If there is a build up of ink on the ink cartridge, you will get a message:
HP Pen Column open or short failure
If you get this message, clean the contacts on the ink cartridge head and the
contacts on the ink cartridge holder. You will need a cloth.
1 Open the endorser covers.
Note: The rear ink cartridge is under the rear cover and the front ink
cartridge under the front cover.
2 Press the Load Cartridge button to raise the ink cartridge if it is in the
lowered position.
3 Flip down the locking arm at the back of the cartridge.
Caution: Do not drop or squeeze the cartridge, or bump the cartridge head. Rough
handling may stop the cartridge from printing, especially along the top lines.
