What Track Sensors Are
3
The “track” is the route each document takes, from the hopper to a pocket.
The transport track contains sensors which tell the transport where each
document is.
Why Cleaning is Important to
Sensors
3
As paper dust builds up on the sensors, it becomes more difficult for light to
get through. This can confuse the sensors (although they try to adjust
themselves each time you start the transport).
Daily vacuuming and cleaning of the track is the best way to keep dust and
paper off the sensors.
Where the Sensors Are.
3
You can often find the location of a sensor by lifting the module cover and
looking for the sensor wires. Sensor wires are black wires, about as thick as
spaghetti strands.
How to Clean
3
First, you should vacuum the track daily.
Then you should clean the track daily. To clean the track, you need a piece
of thin cardboard stock (can be made from the batch ticket packing material),
approximately 18 cm (7 inches) long and 10 cm (4 inches) wide.
1 Insert the cardboard into the track.
2 Push the cardboard along the track.
