Creating a Bootable CD
ThedownloadedfileisaCDimagefile(ISO)containingthefilesnecessarytocreatea
bootableCD.AsystemwithaCD/DVDburnerisrequiredtoperformthisfunction.
1. InsertawritableCDintheCD/DVDburnerdrive.
2. RecordthedownloadedimagefileontotheCDusingautili
tythatiscapableof
burningISOfiles.
Note: YoucannotsimplydropthefileontheCDandburnit.Youmustuse
softwarecapableofrecordingISOimagesontoCDs.
Creating a Bootable USB Memory Drive
ThedownloadedfilecontainsthefilesnecessarytocreateabootableUSBMemory
Drive.
1. InsertaUSBdrivethatisformattedasFAT(orFAT32).
2. Unzipthedownloadedfiles.
3. CopythefilestotherootdirectoryoftheUSBMemoryDrive.
4. OpenaDOScommandwindow
5. ChangedirectorytotheUSBMemoryDrive.
6. Executethefollowingcommand:
Syslinux –fma <USB drive letter>
Example: Syslinux –sfma f:
ThiscommanderasesanybootablemethodsthatmaybepresentontheUSBdrive
andreplacesitwiththeBIOSupdateprocess.
IftheresultingUSBmemorydriveisnotbootable,trythefollowingcommand.
Thisrunsslowerbutismoreeffective.
Syslinux –sfma <USB drive letter>
Important:Donotrunsyslinuxbydouble‐clickingon itbecauseitmayaffect
thebootdriveoftheterminalbeingusedtocreatethedrive.
Windows7Note:Theabovecommandsmustbeexecutedasadministrator.

Start→All Programs→Accessories→Command Prompt → [Right‐Click]→
"Run as” → Administrator
