Chapter 12: Operating System Recovery
Introduction
This chapter discusses procedures on how to recover the Operating System. The
software is distributed on bootable CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive media.
There are two methods that can be used.
• Bootable USB DVD Drive
• USB Flash Drive (64-Bit Operating Systems)
• Network - Refer to the NCR Retail Systems Manager (RSM) Software User's Guide,
(B005-0000-1518) for information about this procedure.
Prerequisites
The following are required in order to perform an OS recovery from a CD.
• Bootable CD/DVD-ROM drive
• Keyboard
Procedures for Windows XP Pro/POSReady 2009
1. Insert the NCR Partition Image Application CD (D370-0605-0100) into the CD/DVD
drive.
2. Connect a keyboard to the terminal.
3. Apply power to the terminal.
4. Press [F8] during boot (when you see the NCR logo) to enter the Boot Select menu.
5. Select USB:[name of device].
6. You should see a message during boot, indicating that the device has been
recognized.
7. At the menu, enter 1 to select the image restore function and press [Enter].
