Installing Operating System
See “Installing Microsoft Windows Server 2003” on page 324 for more information on
installing a Microsoft operating system.
To install other operating systems, contact your sales agent.
Notes:
■ Use NEC ExpressBuilder for initial setup of your server. The
NEC ExpressBuilder is a support software for the NEC
Express5800 server. It simplifies the process of installing
and configuring your server.
■ Before installing the operating system, adjust the system
date and time by using the BIOS setup utility "SETUP." See
“BIOS Setup Utility” on page 64
Installing Utilities
Install the utilities that come with the server. See “Appendix 4: Installing and Using
Utilities” on page 267 for more information.
Making Backup Copies of System Information
The system information includes the current BIOS settings and any specific
information for the server.
Save the information after completing the system setup.
Without the backup data, you will not be able to recover the information.
Note: An optional USB floppy disk drive is required.
You can save the information by the following process.
1. Insert the NEC ExpressBuilder DVD-ROM in the optical drive and reboot the
system.
2. Select [Maintenance Tools (Normal Mode)].
3. Select [English].
4. Select [Maintenance Utility].
5. Select [System Information Management].
6. Insert a floppy disk in the floppy disk drive.
7. Select [Save].
