The harness : Le Suspender
NEO have created a cocoon harness with an innovative bucket seat design. The
Suspender is a high-end cross-country harness which is lightweight, stable, precise,
and comfortable, and has a modern shape. The Suspender’s structure is built around
our next-generation NEO-KOROYD engineered back protector, which is lightweight,
compact, and integrates seamlessly with the harness geometry.
New geometry, new concept: The Bucket Seat
The focus of our design work was on the geometry and the seat area of the harness,
to create a stable and ergonomic foundation with a very precise turn. To achieve this,
we integrated a new EVA sandwich back protector into the harness. The result is a
new hybrid concept combining a bucket seat with a mix of seat-board and hammock
characteristics, with a more streamlined and supportive protector that spans the full
length of the harness.
The geometry design and trimming is centered around:
- Harness Centre of Gravity.
- Carefully tuned ABS (Anti-Balance-System) to control the roll axis.
- Pitch attitude balance to control the yaw axis.
- Additional upper ABS structure for additional stability in active air.
- Adjustable centre webbing (42-47cm) for precision and roll axis stability.
- Optimal balance between stability, glider feedback and handling.
In ight, you can feel:
- Structured thigh support which maintains turn energy and creates a feeling similar
to skiing: the ‘carve’ effect.
- Precise handling
- The seat rigidity, which maintains heading when you push the speed bar. The
Suspender offers comfort and precision similar to a competition harness, but
weighs much less.
Comfort:
- The bucket seat design makes the Suspender the most comfortable harness
we have own.
- Balanced support in the seat and the pod, allows the pilot to relax both torso
and legs.
- There is no need to tighten the shoulder straps: the seat back is very rigid, eli-
minating back pain during long ights.
- The seat sponge densities are optimal for long ights.
- Precise, simple trimming: side straps, seat depth/lumbar straps, front belt, shoul-
ders straps, and chest strap.
