Movethemachinetoalevelandrmground.
Lowertheloaderattachmenttotheground.
Placethebackhoeattachmentintheroadtravelposition.
Placethedirection-of-travelleverandgearshiftleverin
neutralposition.
Immobilizethemachinebymeansoftheparkingbrake.
Stoptheengineandremovethestarterswitchkey.
Waitthetimenecessarytoallowtheengineandthefuel
systemtocooldown.
Placeacontainerunderthelter.
ATTENTION:Preventdamagestothefuelhigh-pressure
lines,asafuelreleasecouldbeverydangerous.

Opentheenginecompartmenthoodanddrainthewater
andsedimentsfromthefuellter(1)throughthedraining
valve(2).
•
Fromthebottomofthelter,removethecon-
nector(3).
•
Installadrainpipe(about1mlong3.2ft)on
thedrainingvalveandputtheotherandleftof
thepipeintothecontainer.
•
Withengineinoperative,loosenthedraining
valveabouttwoturnsandmakeowsthepos-
siblewaterandsediment,untilonlycleanfuel
runsout.
•
Tightenthedrainingvalvewithoutovertighen-
ing.
•
Ifnecessarybleedairfromlter(see
page7-81)
NOTE:Thedrainingintervalcanbeincreasedorde-
creased,dependingonthepresenceofwaterandthe
quantityoffuel
