negative(-)cable.
Disconnectthebattery(bothterminals)beforeweld-
ingonanypartofthemachine.Failuretodoso
maycausedamagetosensitiveelectricalcompo-
nents.Foradditionalweldingprecautions,referto
thischapter.
Whenusingauxiliarybatteriesorconnecting
boostercablestostarttheengine,usetheproce-
dureshowninthismanual.DONOTshortacross
terminals.
Whenworkingaroundstoragebatteries,remember
thatalloftheexposedmetalpartsare“live”.Never
layametalobjectacrosstheterminalsbecause
aspark,shortcircuit,explosion,orpersonalinjury
mayresult.
Frozenelectrolytecancausethebatterytoexplode.
Donotchargeafrozenbatteryoruseafrozenbat-
terytoboosterstartthemachine.Alwayskeepthe
batteryatfullchargetopreventtheelectrolytefrom
freezing.
