Coldtemperatureoperation
Coldweatherconditionscausespecialproblems.Duringtheseconditions,yourmachinewillrequirespecialattention
topreventseriousdamage.Coldweathermaintenancewillextendtheservicelifeofyourmachine.
Tostartandoperateyourmachineduringcoldambienttemperatures,observethefollowingrecommendation/instruc-
tions.
Batteryandelectricalcomponents:
•
Ensurethebatteriesareatfullcharge.
•
Ifyouaddwatertothebatteries,chargethebatteriesorruntheengineforapproximatelytwohourstoprevent
batteryfreezinginambienttemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).
•
Inspectthebatterycablesandterminals.Cleanandcoateachterminalwithacorrosionpreventionproduct.
Engine:
•
Useengineoilwiththecorrectviscosityfortheambienttemperaturerange.NEWHOLLANDCONSTRUCTION
recommendstheuseofENGINEOILFULLSYNTHETICSAE0W-40.
•
Allowlongerwarmupperiodstobringthemachineandcomponentsuptooperatingtemperature.
•
WARNING
Explosionhazard!
DONOTuseetherstartinguid.Explosion,death,seriouspersonalinjury,orseriousenginedamage
couldoccur.
Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorseriousinjury.

Pre-heatsystem,engineglowplugsarestandard.TurnthekeyswitchtotheONposition,theenginepre-heatlamp
illuminatesastheheaterconditionsindrawnair.Waitforthelamptostopilluminatingbeforestartingtheengine.
Iftheenginefailstostartaftertwoattempts,allowthebatterytorecoverfor4to5minutesbeforerepeatingthe
procedure.

Electricalshockhazard!
NEVERuseanungroundedorinadequateextensioncord.Alwaysuseafunctional(three-wire),
groundedextensioncordratedfortheappropriatevoltageandcurrent(15A),withcircuitprotectionof
eitherastandardcircuitbreakeroraGroundFaultCircuitInterrupter(GFCI).
Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorseriousinjury.

Ifequipped,plugtheengineblockheaterinto110Voutletforuptofourhoursbeforestartingtheengine.Unplug
theblockheaterbeforecontinuingwiththecoldweatherstartprocedure.
Fuelsystem:
•
Checkwithyourdealerforthecorrectcoldweatherfuel.InadditiontothewinterblendNEWHOLLANDCON-
STRUCTIONrecommendstheuseofacoldweatherdieselfueladditive.Followthedirectionsonthemanufactures
label.
•
Checkforwaterinthefuelsystem.Inspectthewaterseparatorevery50hofoperationorwhenthewaterinfuel
warning
messageappears.Ifwaterisfound,checkthefueltank.
•
Fillthefueltankaftereachoperatingdaytopreventcondensationinthefueltankandwaterenteringthefuelsystem.
Coolingsystem
•
Keepthecoolantatthecorrectlevelinthereservoirandradiator.UseOATEXTENDEDLIFECOOLANT/ANTIFREEZE
premix(50%concentrateand50%distilledwater).Thismixtureprotectstheenginecoolingsystemto-35°C
(-31°F).
