Thingstoconsiderandunderstandbeforeyouattempttheassistedstartingprocedure:
•
Ahighcurrentowsonconnectionofthegroundcable.
•
Connectthegroundcabletotheframeasfaraspossibleawayfromthedischargedbattery.
•
Duringassistedstartingoperations(bymeansofanexternalbattery),donotleanoverthebatteries.Weargoggles.
•
Onlyconnectbatteries(batteryassemblies)withthesamevoltage.
•
Onlyusetestedjumpercableswithinsulatedterminalclipsandanadequateleaddiameter.
•
Ensurethatthebodiesofthesupplyingandreceivingmachinesarenotincontact.Otherwiseacurrentowmight
resultfromconnectingthepositivepoles.
•
Whenperformingassistedstarting,neverusepowersuppliescreatinganover-voltage,suchas,forexample,two
orthreebatteriesinseriesordevicesgeneratingvoltagesabove12V.
•
Neveruseweldinggeneratorsorweldingtransformersaspowersources.
•
Positionjumpercablesinsuchawaythattheycannotbecaughtbyrotatingenginecomponents.
Checkwhetherthebatteryofthereceivingmachine
(dischargedbattery)isinworkingorder:
1.Switchoffelectricalaccessories(lights,fans).
2.Inserttheignitionkey,thewarninglampsfortheinstru-
mentclustermustturnON.
3.IfwarninglampsdonotturnON,thebatteryisfaulty
(dischargedorwithashort-circuitinside).Inthiscase
themachinemustnotbestarted,asthealternator
wouldthenbedamaged.
4.Installafunctionalbatterybeforejump-starting.
