Thetransmissionisfullysynchronizedprovidingfour
forwardandfourreversespeedsallowinggearratio
changesonthemove.Atorqueconverterisusedto
connecttheenginetothetransmissionandthedirection
controllever(3)enablesshiftsbetweenforwardand
reversetravelwithoutdisengaginggearratios.
NOTE:Thetransmissiondisconnectswhentheparking
brakeisON.
Directioncontrollever
NOTE:Stopthemachinefrommovingbeforeswitching
betweenFORWARDandREVERSEtravel.
Thedirectioncontrolleverisontheleft-handsideof
thesteeringcolumnandcontrolsthedirectionoftravel
forthemachine.

Thetopposition(F)isFORWARD.Totravelforward,lift
theleverandpushcompletelyforward.
•
Thecenterposition(N)isNEUTRAL.Makesurethat
thedirectioncontrolleverisinNEUTRALbeforeyou
starttheengineorbeforeyouoperatethebackhoe.
•
Thebottomposition(R)isREVERSE.Totravelinre-
verse,lifttheleverandpullcompletelyrearward.An
audiblealarmwillsoundwheninreverse.
NOTE:Theenginewillnotstartwiththedirectioncontrol
leverintheFORWARDorREVERSEpositions.
NOTE:Thedirectioncontrolleverisequippedwitha
neutrallocktopreventanaccidentalengagementof
thetransmission.Withthisdesign,thedirectioncontrol
levermovesthrougha“T”slottotheforwardorreverse
positions.
NOTICE:Thedirectioncontrollevercanbeshiftedat
anyenginespeed;however,asasafetyandprecau-
tionarymeasure,theenginemustrunatapproximately
1200RPM.
Usethefootacceleratortocontrolengineandground
speed.
