SYNCHRONIZING THE TIMING GEARS
(Disassembly operations 51 − 55)
Proceed as follows:

— Remove the cover and gasket from the flywheel
housing inspection window.

— The flywheel is marked in degrees BTDC. Rotate
the crankshaft to bring cylinder no. 1 to TDC of
the compression stroke. Look through the in-
spection window and check that the notch aligns
with the appropriate index mark, according to the
type of BOSCH pump installed on the tractor
(see from page 6 to page 14).

— Fit the timing gears making sure that the various
reference marks on the mating gears (indicated
by the arrows in the figure) are aligned.
