The NEW SKILL PYROS is a 60% wired/wireless RGB mechanical gaming keyboard, designed for versatility and performance. This quick guide outlines its key features, functionality, and connectivity options, making it an ideal companion for gamers and users who require a compact yet powerful keyboard.

Function Description

The keyboard offers a comprehensive set of functions despite its compact 60% layout. It supports both Windows and macOS operating systems, allowing users to switch between them seamlessly. The multi-functional keys provide access to a wide range of commands, while the RGB backlighting enhances the aesthetic appeal and usability in various lighting conditions.

Multi-functional Key Description: Many keys on the PYROS keyboard serve multiple purposes, accessible through the use of the Fn key. For example, Fn + Esc acts as the tilde (~) key, while Fn + 1 functions as F1. This design maximizes the utility of each key in the compact layout.

  • F-Keys (F1-F12): Accessed by combining Fn with the corresponding number keys (1-0, -, =). For instance, Fn + 1 activates F1, Fn + 2 activates F2, and so on. Fn + 0 activates F10, Fn + - activates F11, and Fn + = activates F12.
  • Special Functions:
    • Fn + 7 activates F7.
    • Fn + 8 activates F8.
    • Fn + 9 activates F9.
    • Fn + Y acts as Prtsc (Print Screen).
    • Fn + U acts as Scrlk (Scroll Lock).
    • Fn + I acts as Pause.
    • Fn + H acts as Insert.
    • Fn + J acts as Home.
    • Fn + K acts as Pgup (Page Up).
    • Fn + L acts as Pgdn (Page Down).
    • Fn + M acts as End.
    • Fn + < acts as Pgdn (Page Down).
    • Fn + acts as Del (Delete).
    • Fn + N acts as Del (Delete).
  • Arrow Key Function: Fn + Enter turns on/off the arrow key function, allowing the W, A, S, D keys to function as arrow keys when enabled.
  • Win Key Locking Control: Fn + Win locks or unlocks the Windows key, preventing accidental presses during gaming sessions.

WinOS & MacOS Switch: The keyboard supports both Windows and macOS, offering dedicated modes for each.

  • Switching to Windows Mode: Press Fn + A.
  • Switching to Mac Mode: Press Fn + S.

Mac Multimedia Function in Mac Mode: When in Mac mode, the F1-F12 keys gain multimedia functionalities.

  • Fn + F1: Brightness down.
  • Fn + F2: Brightness up.
  • Fn + F3: Mission Control.
  • Fn + F4: Launchpad.
  • Fn + F7: Previous track.
  • Fn + F8: Play/Pause.
  • Fn + F9: Next track.
  • Fn + F10: Mute.
  • Fn + F11: Volume down.
  • Fn + F12: Volume up.

It's important to note that these Mac multimedia functions are only available in Mac mode, and the corresponding F1-F12 keys must be set as the primary function for these shortcuts to work. Windows mode does not support these specific multimedia functions.

Combination Keys' Function Switching and Locking: The keyboard allows users to switch between the primary and secondary functions of certain combination keys.

  • Press Fn + Ctrl to activate the second function of combination keys (excluding the arrow keys). This means keys like Y, U, I, H, J, K, N, M, and < will perform their secondary functions.
  • Press Fn + Ctrl again to restore the 9 keys (Y, U, I, H, J, K, N, M, <) to their main functions, while other combination keys remain in their second function.
  • Repeatedly pressing Fn + Ctrl will eventually restore all combination keys to their main functions.

Backlight Mode: The PYROS keyboard features RGB backlighting with various customization options.

  • Switch Backlight Mode: Fn + \ cycles through 17 different backlight modes, offering a wide range of visual effects.
  • Switch Backlight Colour: Fn + . changes the backlight color within the selected mode.
  • Control the Brightness of Backlight:
    • Fn + increases the backlight brightness.
    • Fn + reduces the backlight brightness until it turns off. There are four grades of backlight brightness, plus one grade to turn it off completely.
  • Control the Speed of Backlight:
    • Fn + increases the speed of the backlight effect.
    • Fn + reduces the speed of the backlight effect until it turns off. There are four grades of backlight speed.

Usage Features

The PYROS keyboard is designed for flexible use, offering both wired and wireless connectivity options, along with efficient power management.

Wired & Bluetooth Switch: The keyboard can operate in two primary modes: wired and wireless (Bluetooth).

  1. Wired Mode: When the bottom switch is in the "OFF" position, the keyboard operates in wired mode. Simply connect the data cable to your device and start using it.
  2. Wireless Mode: When the bottom switch is in the "ON" position, the keyboard enters wireless mode. For the first use of wireless mode, pairing with a device is required before normal operation.

Fn+Q/W/E Short Press: Switch to Corresponding Bluetooth: The keyboard supports storing up to three Bluetooth devices, allowing for quick switching between them.

  • Short press Fn + Q to switch to the first stored Bluetooth device.
  • Short press Fn + W to switch to the second stored Bluetooth device.
  • Short press Fn + E to switch to the third stored Bluetooth device.

Long Press: Bluetooth Pairing: To pair the keyboard with a new Bluetooth device or re-pair an existing one:

  • Long press Fn + Q (or W or E) for 3 seconds. The corresponding key (Q, W, or E) will flicker continuously, indicating that the keyboard has entered Bluetooth matching mode.
  • Open Bluetooth settings on your computer or mobile device, search for the keyboard, and connect.
  • Once successfully connected, the flickering of the Q/W/E key will stop.

By repeating these steps, you can store and switch between three different wireless devices.

Maintenance Features

The PYROS keyboard incorporates features to ensure proper functionality and power management.

Charging Introduction: To ensure optimal performance and longevity, proper charging procedures should be followed.

  1. Initial Charge: Always charge the keyboard before its first use to ensure normal operation.
  2. Charging Indication:
    • When the keyboard is plugged into power, the space key indicator light will flash 3 times and then turn off, indicating that charging has begun.
    • Once fully charged, the space key light will flash 5 times continuously and then turn off.
    • If you unplug the keyboard during charging and then plug it back in, the space key light will flash 3 times continuously if it's not yet full, or 5 consecutive flashes if it's full.
  3. Standby Mode: If there is no operation for 3 minutes, the keyboard will enter standby mode to conserve power. To wake it up, simply press any key.

These features collectively make the NEW SKILL PYROS a versatile, user-friendly, and efficient mechanical gaming keyboard suitable for a wide range of applications and users.
