1 Press the rotary multi selector _ (macro
mode).
The macro mode menu is displayed.

2 Use the rotary multi selector to choose ON
and press the _) button,
The macro mode icon (_) is displayed.
Ira setting is not applied by pressing the _) button
within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.
3 Rotate the zoom control to frame the picture.
The closest distance at which the camera can focus varies _[]_
depending on the zoom position.
When the zoom is at a position where k_ and the zoom
indicator glow green (to the left of !'N), the camera can
focus on subjects as close as 2 cm (0.8 in.) from the lens. At the maximum wide-angle
position, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.) from the lens.

[] Autofocus
When using I_1 (auto) mode, if Autofocus mode (_ 54) is set to Full-time AF, the camera focuses
continuously until the shutter release button is pressed halfway to lock the focus. Therefore, the
sound of lens drive movement can be heard.
When using other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro mode is
turned on.
[] The Macro Mode Setting
I_1 (auto) mode and continuous shooting mode share the same macro mode setting. When using
I_1 (auto) mode or continuous shooting mode, the macro mode setting is saved in the camera's
memory even if the ca mera is turned off.
