This document describes the NOD Sous Vide (model NOD0009), an appliance designed for precise temperature cooking. The Sous Vide utilizes a water bath to cook food to a specific temperature, ensuring consistent results and enhanced flavor.
Function Description:
The Sous Vide operates by heating and circulating water in a cooking pot or vessel to a precise, user-defined temperature. Food, typically vacuum-sealed or placed in a ziplock bag, is submerged in this water bath and cooked until done. This method allows for even cooking and prevents overcooking. The appliance features a control panel for setting temperature and time, and includes an alarm function to notify the user when the target temperature is reached, water level is low, or cooking time is complete.
Important Technical Specifications:
The device's technical specifications are primarily related to its operational controls and temperature/time ranges.
- Temperature Range: The Sous Vide supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays. Cooking temperatures vary depending on the food type, with examples provided in the manual ranging from 40°C (104°F) for tender fish to 75°C (167°F) for falling-off-the-bone chicken.
- Time Range: Cooking times are also variable, from 40 minutes for fish to up to 4.5 hours for certain chicken cuts.
- Power: The appliance requires a power outlet, and users are advised to check local voltage conformity with the instructions on the lower part of the appliance.
- Water Level: The Sous Vide must be filled with water above the minimum (Min Water) line but below the maximum (Max Water) line. An alarm will sound if the water level is too low.
Usage Features:
The NOD Sous Vide is designed for ease of use with several key features:
- Control Panel: The appliance features a clear LED display and intuitive buttons for operation.
- Power/Start/Stop Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to power ON or OFF. After setting temperature and time, a 1-second press starts or pauses the cooking process.
- Setup Button: A 1-second press allows setting of cooking temperature and time. A 3-second press toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature display.
- Increase/Decrease Temp/Time Buttons: These buttons allow users to adjust the cooking temperature and time before or during the cooking process.
- Temp/Time Display: When plugged in, the LED display flashes for 3 seconds before showing the default cooking temperature of 55°C (131°F).
- Memory Function: The Sous Vide retains the last used settings, which are displayed automatically upon power-on.
- Alarm Function: Audible alarms indicate:
- Water temperature reaching the set point.
- Water level falling below the minimum.
- Completion of the cooking time.
- Clamping Mechanism: The device includes a clamp to securely attach it to the side of a cooking pot or vessel.
- Cooking Process:
- Vacuum seal food or place it in a suitable ziplock bag.
- Clamp the Sous Vide to the cooking pot.
- Fill the pot with water between the Min and Max water lines.
- Plug in the Sous Vide.
- Power on the device (press and hold the power button for 3 seconds).

- For added texture and flavor, food can be seared on a hot grill or pan, or brushed with oil/butter and blowtorched after sous vide cooking. Users are reminded that the food is already cooked, so searing should be done carefully to avoid exceeding the desired temperature.
