play willchange from one number to the other
everyfew seconds,as shownby the indicator
below the display. Note: Each time the incline
level changes, the display will show the incline
level.

pace (pace is measured in minutes per mile).
When a preset programor a custom program is
selected, the display will show the time remaining
in the program, the time remaining in the current
segment of the program, and your current pace.
The display will change from one number to the
next every few seconds, as shown by the indica-
tors below the display.
Calories/Pulse
display--When the
handgrip pulse sensor
is not being used, this
display will show the
approximatenumbers
of calories and fat calories you have burned (see
FAT BURNING on page 25). When the handgrip
pulsesensor or the optional chest pulse sensor
(see page 21) is used, the display will also show
your heart rate (see step 6 below).
Speed display--This
display shows the speed
of the walking belt.

milesor an "M" for metric kilometerswill appear in
the Speed display.Pressthe Speed + buttonto
change the unit of measurement. When the de-
sired unit of measurement is selected, remove the
key and then reinsert it. Note: For simplicity, all
instructions in this manual refer to miles.
To reset the displays, press the Stop button, re-
move the key, and then reinsert the key.

and place your

palms mustbe rest-
ing on the upper
contacts, and your
fingers must be
touching the lower OFATPULSE"
CALORIES
contacts---avoid
moving your
hands. When your pulse is detected, the Pulse in-
dicatorwillflash,three dashes (- - -) willappear
in the Calories/Pulsedisplay,and then yourheart
ratewill be shown. For the most accurate heart
rate reading, continue to hold the contacts for
about 15 seconds.
