Nipples
before
Greasing.
In
bad
weather
grease
the
frame
and
controls (front
and
rear
forks,
brake
rods, kickstarter .'
...
j more
frequently
than
specified; if a
squeak
develops,.
grease
at
once.
Every
300
miles,
Remove
the
rubber
cap
on
the
top
of
the chaincase,
and
thoroughly
soak
the chain-lubricating
pad
with oil
of
the
grade
used
in
the
engine.
When
the
lTJachine
is
carrying no
load,
and
is
not raised on its
stand,
the
lubricating
pad
should
be
about
3
mm
(1/8")
clear
of
the
upper
section
of
the
chain.
To,
check this,
take
off the
chaincase
after
undoing .the
two
front
and
three
rear
screws which hold
it.
If
necessary adjust the
pad
by moving
the
dip
attached
to the
bearing
tube
for
the
rear
forks.
Every 600 miles
Check
the
Oil Level ,
Before starting a journey, allow
the
engine
to run in
neutral until
there
is no further
change
in the oil level
in 'the tank. Then
stop
the
engine
and
at
once
add
oil*
to
the level
of
the
upper
mark
on
the
dipstick. Do
not
overfill.

Air Filter
A
'badly
fouled
air
filter' increases ·the fuel
cons~mption
to
quite a
considerable
extent. After
removing'
the
caver
flush the filter element with petrol, blow
it
throu.gh with comF?ressed
air
and.
then dip
it
in
thin
oil
and
allow to drip.
If
necessary, clean the filter more
frequently. .
