Step 2.
Volume and placement.
When using a white noise machine
for babies, it’s essential to consider
the distance and sound strength to
ensure it’s both eective and safe.
Distance
The white noise machine should be
placed at a safe distance from the
baby’s crib or sleeping area. Ideally,
position it ~ 1-1.5m away from the
baby to avoid direct exposure to the
sound source.
Sound Strength (Decibel Level)
The sound strength or volume level
of the white noise machine should be
set at a safe and appropriate level for
a baby’s delicate ears. As a general
guideline, a sound level between
50-70 decibels is often considered
safe and eective for most babies.
This level can mimic the comforting
sounds they heard in the womb
without being excessively loud.
It’s crucial to monitor the baby’s
response to the white noise and be
attentive to any signs of discomfort
or agitation. Additionally, placing
the white noise machine at a safe
distance from the baby’s crib and
using the lowest eective volume
setting is recommended.
Here are some tips for nding the
lowest eective volume setting:
* Start Low: Begin with the white
noise machine set at a very low
