Overview

The NuWave Jubilee Digital Grill with Temperature Probe is a versatile cooking appliance designed for indoor use, offering a range of features for grilling various foods with precision and ease. Its primary function is to cook food using heat from the top, bottom, or both grill plates, and it includes a digital temperature probe for achieving perfect internal temperatures.

Function Description:

The NuWave Jubilee operates as a digital grill, allowing users to cook a wide variety of foods, from meats and poultry to fish and vegetables. It utilizes both top and bottom grill plates to ensure even cooking and can be used for searing, warming, and general grilling. The integrated temperature probe is a key feature, enabling precise cooking by monitoring the internal temperature of food, which is particularly useful for achieving desired doneness levels for meats and ensuring food safety.

Usage Features:

The grill is equipped with a user-friendly control panel that includes buttons for ON/OFF, START, TEMP, TIME, TOP/BTM, SEAR, WARM, and PROBE, along with dials for adjusting settings.

  • Getting Started: To begin, the user presses ON/OFF to power on the unit. The default setting is 375°F for 10 minutes. Temperature and time can be adjusted using the respective dials before pressing START to begin cooking.
  • Pause/Clear: During cooking, pressing PAUSE/CLEAR once will pause the unit, displaying the remaining time or the cooking temperature. Pressing it again will clear any program. Temperature and time can still be adjusted while paused.
  • Temperature and Time Adjustment: The TEMP dial (left) allows for temperature adjustments between 60°F and 475°F in 5-degree increments. The TIME dial (right) adjusts cooking time from 00:00 to 99:59 (minutes and seconds). Quick turns of the dial allow for larger increments.
  • Top/Bottom Heating: The TOP/BTM button allows the user to select heating from the top, bottom, or both grill plates. The default is 375°F for 10 minutes. Temperatures for each plate can be adjusted between 0°F and 475°F. Setting a plate to "OF" will turn it off.
  • Preheat Function: For crispier results, the PREHEAT function sets the unit to a default of 375°F. After setting the desired cooking temperature and time, pressing PREHEAT and then START initiates the preheating process. Once the set temperature is reached, "REDY" and "5" will be displayed, and a 5-minute countdown begins, signaling the user to place food on the grill. If food is not placed and START not pressed within 5 minutes, the unit enters standby mode.
  • Sear Function: The SEAR function allows for high-temperature cooking at 525°F for 2 minutes by default. This can be used before or after the regular cooking process.
    • Sear 1 (Before Regular Cooking): Pressing SEAR once activates Sear 1. The default is 525°F for 2 minutes, adjustable up to 5 minutes. After the sear countdown, the unit automatically proceeds to cook at 375°F for 10 minutes.
    • Sear 2 (After Regular Cooking): Pressing SEAR three times activates Sear 2. The unit will first cook at the set regular temperature (e.g., 375°F for 10 minutes) and then sear at 525°F for 2 minutes. The dials can be used to adjust temperature and time for the phase of cooking after sear.
    • Sear 1 & 2 (Combined): Pressing SEAR twice allows for searing at 525°F for 2 minutes, followed by regular cooking at 375°F for 10 minutes.
  • Warm Function: The WARM function is designed for warming leftovers, with a default of 145°F for 60 minutes. Pressing WARM and then START activates this function. Temperature and time can be adjusted. The unit will cook at 375°F for 10 minutes and then keep food warm at 145°F for 60 minutes. The warm function can also be used independently by pressing and holding WARM for 2 seconds after turning the unit ON/OFF.
  • Probe Function: The digital probe ensures food is cooked to a precise internal temperature.
    1. Plug the probe into the unit's jack and insert the other end into the food.
    2. Press ON/OFF and adjust the cooking temperature.
    3. Press PROBE. The display will show the current probe temperature (default 160°F).
    4. To adjust the target probe temperature, press and hold PROBE for 2 seconds, then use the PAUSE/CLEAR dial. If no adjustment is made within 3 seconds, the last entered temperature is set.
    5. Press START to begin cooking. The unit will cook until the target internal temperature is reached, then display "End."
    • If Sear 2 or Warm was selected, the unit will proceed to those functions after the probe's target temperature is met.
    • Error messages (Prob1, Prob2) indicate issues like the probe not being plugged in or the set probe temperature being higher than the cooking temperature.
  • Adjusting Cooking Level of Top Grill Plate: The Jubilee offers 5 adjustable cooking levels for the top grill plate, accommodating various food thicknesses. Users can hold both handles and move them with the grill plate towards the front of the unit to adjust its position in one of the five slots. Opening and closing the lid ensures the grill plate is secure.

Maintenance Features:

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and safe operation of the NuWave Jubilee.

  • Before First Use: All packaging, stickers, and adhesives should be removed. The exterior should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried thoroughly. All removable parts, including the grill plates, should be washed in warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only) and dried completely. Before the first use, a small amount of oil should be applied to the outward-facing sides of the grill plates using a clean cloth or paper towel.
  • Cleaning Between Uses: The exterior and interior of the Jubilee should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth and mild non-abrasive soap. Harsh cleansers, cleaning pads, or brushes should be avoided. The unit should be thoroughly dried before subsequent use. The Jubilee base should never be immersed in water; it should be cleaned with a damp sponge or cloth and wiped dry.
  • Grill Plate Removal: Before removing the grill plates, ensure the unit is completely cooled and unplugged.
    • Bottom Grill Plate: Push the Clip Release Button on the right side of the bottom base, then pull the plate toward you to slide it out.
    • Top Grill Plate: Push the Clip Release Button on the right side of the Top Grill Assembly, then pull the plate up to slide it out.
    • Once removed, grill plates can be hand-washed in warm, soapy water or cleaned in the dishwasher (top rack only). Presoaking may be necessary for stubborn debris.
  • Handle Removal and Reinstallation: The handles are removable for cleaning.
    1. Remove the Top Grill Plate first.
    2. Locate the two silver Grill Hooks under the lid.
    3. Remove the end of each hook from its slot.
    4. Lift the middle of the lid from underneath and swing out the metal ends of the handle from their holes.
    5. Pull out the handle. Repeat for the other handle.
    • To reinstall, reverse these steps, ensuring the handles are secure and the lid closes properly.
  • Drip Tray Cleaning: The drip tray, located at the back of the unit, collects grease and oil during cooking. It should always be in place before cooking.
    1. Slide out the drip tray from the back of the Jubilee.
    2. Empty any collected oil.
    3. Clean the drip tray with warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only).
    4. Dry thoroughly before returning it to the unit. Extreme caution should be exercised when removing or disposing of hot oil or grease.
  • Safety Precaution: Always ensure the power cord is unplugged from the power source before inserting or removing any attachments or parts, and before cleaning.

The NuWave Jubilee is designed with an automatic shut-off feature to prevent overheating. If the unit shuts off to cool down, an odor may be detected. In such cases, the unit should be unplugged and allowed to cool completely. To prevent overheating, it is advised not to cook at temperatures or settings not recommended for specific ingredients or recipes, and to avoid leaving the unit on or cooking for prolonged times unnecessarily. In case of malfunctions or persistent issues, contact Customer Service.
