Overview

This document provides assembly instructions for a Black Stamped Steel 'T' Table Base, manufactured by Oak Street Manufacturing, a provider of superior restaurant furnishings. The device is a table base designed to support a tabletop, offering a sturdy and stable foundation for various table configurations.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to serve as a robust and stable base for a table. It is designed to be attached to the underside of a tabletop, providing structural support and ensuring the table remains level and secure. The 'T' shape of the base allows for efficient use of space and can be configured in various ways to support different tabletop sizes and shapes. The stamped steel construction indicates durability and suitability for commercial environments, such as restaurants, where heavy use is expected.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific dimensions for the base components are not explicitly listed, the instructions detail the hardware required for assembly:

  • Screws: (8) 3/4" #10 screws are specified for attaching the base to the tabletop. This screw size suggests a secure fastening suitable for commercial furniture.
  • Bolts: A short bolt with a lock washer and flat washer is used to connect the spider to the 'T' foot. This combination of washers helps prevent loosening over time due to vibrations or movement.
  • Tools: The required tools include a drill driver or screwdriver for fastening screws and a crescent wrench or socket set for tightening bolts. This indicates standard hardware and assembly methods.
  • Material: The base is described as "Black Stamped Steel," highlighting its material composition and finish. Stamped steel is known for its strength and resistance to wear, making it ideal for furniture components that need to withstand significant stress. The black finish likely provides a professional appearance and may offer some corrosion resistance.
  • Leveling Glides: The 'T' foot is equipped with leveling glides, which are crucial for ensuring the table is stable on uneven floors. These glides can be adjusted to compensate for variations in floor height, preventing wobbling.

Usage Features:

The assembly process highlights several usage features:

  • Versatile Tabletop Compatibility: The instructions detail how to measure and position the base on different tabletop sizes. For tabletops 24" to 30" in diameter, the base should be centered. For tabletops 30" to 42" in diameter, the base should be positioned 12" on center from the table edge. For larger tabletops, the base should be measured from the spider's edge to the sides of the table to ensure it's centered. This flexibility allows the base to be used with a wide range of tabletop dimensions, making it adaptable for various table designs.
  • Adjustable Leveling: The inclusion of leveling glides on the 'T' foot allows users to easily adjust the table's stability on uneven surfaces. This is a critical feature for restaurant environments where floors may not always be perfectly level, ensuring a comfortable and stable dining experience.
  • Modular Design: The base consists of several distinct components—the spider, the 'T' foot, and the column—which are assembled together. This modularity simplifies manufacturing, shipping, and potentially replacement of individual parts if damaged.
  • Robust Construction: The use of stamped steel and specific hardware (lock washers, flat washers) indicates a design focused on durability and long-term performance, essential for commercial furniture that experiences frequent use.

Maintenance Features:

While explicit maintenance instructions are not provided, the design and materials suggest certain maintenance aspects:

  • Durability: Stamped steel is inherently durable and resistant to impact and wear, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements. The black finish may also offer some protection against rust, though regular cleaning would be beneficial.
  • Adjustable Leveling Glides: The leveling glides are designed for easy adjustment, which can be considered a maintenance feature. Users can periodically check and adjust these glides to maintain table stability as floor conditions change or as the glides themselves wear over time.
  • Secure Fastenings: The use of lock washers and specific screw sizes ensures that the components remain securely fastened. Periodically checking these fastenings for tightness could be a simple maintenance step to prevent wobbling or structural issues.
  • Simple Cleaning: The smooth surfaces of the steel components would likely be easy to clean with standard commercial cleaning agents, contributing to hygiene and appearance in a restaurant setting.

In summary, the Black Stamped Steel 'T' Table Base is a durable, versatile, and stable foundation for various tabletops, designed with commercial use in mind. Its modular construction, adjustable leveling, and robust materials make it a practical choice for restaurant furnishings.
