OPERATION
Your new Custom Cruiser has been
cjesigned
to
give you
the
necessary
additional cargo space
not
found in
the
standard
passenger
car while still
incorporating all of
the
same ride and
comfort
characteristics. The Glide·Away
tailgate
is
designed
to
lower into
the
underbody
and
in
general
f9110ws
the
body
contour
during
the
opening and closing
cycles.
Similarly, the back window, which
is
separate of
the
gate,
ra
ises
upward and
into
the
space between
the
roof inner and
outer
panels.
POWER
WINDOW
AND
T
AILGA
TE
OPERATION
The power operated rear window (standard
equipment) and power tailgate (optional)
can be operated by either of two control
switches; one on
the
instrument panel and
one (key operated)
on
the
rear
of
the
right
hand
quarter
outer
panel, adjacent
to
the
gate.
The
rear window switch on
the
instrument panel will operate only with
the
key
in
the
"R
un"
position. The power
. tailgate switch on
the
instrument
panel will
operate
only with
the
key
in
the
"Run"
position and
the
transmission selector lever
in
the
PARK position. The manually
operated tailgate may be released only
by
the rear switch on
the
body
exter ior.
EXTERIOR
CONTROL
SWITCH
Manual Tailgate
Operation-The
exterior
control
is
a two-part switch; ·a lock
cylinder operated with a key
and
a
winged knob
not
requiring
the
key (see
illustration ).
To
Open-Tailgate
may
be unlatched by
twisting
the
winged
knob
clockwise
(anytime
without
key) provided
the
rear
window has been raised
at
least 8 inches
by
using either
the
instrument panel
switch or key
in
rear lock cylinder.
To
Close-With
one continuous
motion,
pull up
on
the tailgate
to
the
closed
position.
Close window by using dash
switch
or
turning key
in
rear lock
cylinder counterclockwise. Window will
