USB: Universal serial bus used to communicate with a computer running
the WINXL interface program (default) [see “Setting Up USB
Communication” on page 138].
RS-232: Used for communication with serial port printers, digital
calipers, bar code readers, and other RS-232 communication devices.
The WINXL interface program can use either the USB or the RS-232 port to
communicate with the Magna-Mike 8600.
6. When the CONNECTION TYPE is set to RS-232, select the communication
parameters to match the device with which the Magna-Mike 8600 communicates:
a) Set the BAUD RATE to match the data transfer rate of the device (example:
38400).
b) Set the STOP BITS: 1 or 2.
c) Set the PARITY: NONE, EVEN, or ODD.
d) The word length is fixed at 8.
7. Press [MEAS] to return to the measurement screen.
