6. THICK SHIM point: The instrument will prompt you to place a specific thick
calibration shim and target onto the probe tip. The thickness of this thick
calibration point will vary depending on which target ball, disk, or target wire is
selected. The approximate thickness of the shim will be displayed in the lower
measurement box. Press [CAL] to transfer the measurement to the text box, use
the arrows keys to enter the known thickness of the calibration shim, and then
press [CAL] (see Figure 4-9 on page 81).

7. Additional (multipoint) calibration points: The instrument will ask if you would
like to add additional calibration points (see Figure 4-10 on page 82). Selecting
NO will complete the standard (basic) calibration, while selecting YES
(multipoint) will allow the user to add up to eight additional calibration points.
