This document describes a series of vertical transmission jacks, models 604, 606, 608, 611, 603, and 610, manufactured by OMA s.r.l. These jacks are designed for the removal and installation of transmissions and differentials.
Function Description
The vertical transmission jacks are hydraulic devices used to lift and lower heavy components, primarily transmissions and differentials, during vehicle maintenance and repair. The operation involves a foot-actuated pump for lifting and a release valve for lowering. The jacks are designed to provide stable support for these components, facilitating their removal and installation.

Oil Quantities for Different Models:
- 604/603: 0.95 liters
- 606: 1.25 liters
- 608: 2.5 liters
- 611: 2.5 liters
- 610: 1.95 liters
Usage Features
- Assembly: The jack is shipped disassembled and requires the user to attach the pivoting wheels to the trolleys, fix the trolleys to the pump body, insert the saddle onto the rod, and replace the oil plug with a holed one for ventilation.
- Lifting: Achieved by pumping the foot pedal (Fig. 3).
- Lowering: Performed by slowly turning the release valve counter-clockwise (Fig. 4).
- Safety Rules:
- The jack is strictly for removing and installing transmissions and differentials.
- Movement with a load is only permitted for short, flat distances and only when the jack is in its lowest position, with the rod completely retracted (Fig. 5).
- Ensure the load does not swing or fall suddenly during transport.
- Do not overload the jack, as this can cause severe damage to the jack, property, and persons.
- For handling other components (e.g., rear axles, transfer cases), specific adaptors designed for the jack's weight limitations must be used.
- Always ensure the vehicle is properly supported before starting repairs.
- WARNING: Avoid decentralized placement of the load's gravity, as this can cause overturning or damage to the jack, load, and persons.
- The jack is designed for use on a flat, robust surface capable of sustaining the load. Uneven or yielding surfaces can lead to instability or loss of load (Fig. 5).
- The safety valve is factory-calibrated and sealed; tampering with it is strictly forbidden.
- Failure to follow these warnings can result in loss of load, damage to the jack, and/or personal injury or property damage.
Maintenance Features
- Hydraulic System: The pump/cylinder unit is a sealed system requiring only monthly lubrication of moving parts.
- Oil Replacement/Refill: If the hydraulic unit leaks oil or needs to be dismantled for gasket replacement, activate the pump and slowly add oil through the filling hole.
- Oil Level: When the jack is in its lowest position, the oil level should not exceed the filling cap level.
- Oil Type: Use any hydraulic oil with ISO 22 gradation (e.g., Shell Tellus oil 22). NEVER USE BRAKE FLUID.
- Lubrication: Every two months, lubricate the mechanical parts of the pedal with high-quality oil and grease the head pumping element.
- Inspections:
- Before each use, visually inspect the jack for leaks, damages, missing, loose, or worn parts.
- Immediately inspect the jack if it has been subjected to an abnormal load or shock.
- RECOMMENDED: These inspections should be performed by skilled personnel from the supplier.
- An annual inspection by an authorized specialist from the supplier is recommended. Defective or dangerous parts must be replaced with original spare parts from the manufacturer.
- Damaged Jacks: Any damaged, heavily used, or abnormally operating jack SHALL BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE.
- Destruction: When the jack needs to be destroyed, materials must be recycled according to local country laws.
