STEP 1: PRODUCT

REGISTRATION FORM

Please complete the enclosed

Product Registration Form and return

it today by mail, or register online by

going to: www.ott-lite.com/warranty.

WARNING: To prevent electric

shock, make sure the lamp is not

plugged in until all assembly steps

are complete.

STEP 2: LAMP ASSEMBLY

1. To adjust the tension of the side-to-

side motion of the lamp head, use a

coin to turn the screw (A).

2. To adjust the tension of the up-

and-down motion of the lamp head,

use a coin to turn the screw (B).

3. It should not be necessary to

make adjustments to part (C), as

the tension has been preset at the

factory. However, if you find that the

neck of the lamp is too loose, use a

coin to turn the screw (C) clockwise

to tighten the arm tension.

STEP 3: TUBE INSERTION/

REPLACEMENT

1. Make sure the lamp is not plugged

into an electrical socket.

2. If the lamp has been in use,

allow it to cool for approximately

5 minutes before proceeding.

3. Set the lamp upright on a flat

surface.

4. Rotate the shade (D) so that the

notch (E) in the base of the shade is

positioned over the tab (F) located on

the socket assembly (G). Refer to the

diagram for proper shade position.

5. Remove the shade by pulling it

straight out from the socket assembly.

6. To install a tube (H) in the socket,

grasp the tube firmly in your hand,

position the tube so that it is aligned

as pictured in the diagram, then push

the tube straight into the socket until

it “snaps” into place.

7. To remove a tube already installed

in the lamp, grasp it firmly in your

hand and pull it straight out of the

socket. Do not twist or turn the

tube while removing it from the

socket.

8. To replace the shade, position it as

indicated in the diagram, then push it

back into the socket assembly mak-

ing sure the shade “snaps” into place.

9. Rotate the shade to the desired

position for use.

10. Plug the lamp into a standard

120V socket. Your lamp is ready

for use.

11. To turn lamp on or off, depress

rocker switch (I).

Please note that in operation,

OttLite

tubes are not dimmable.

Function Description:

The primary function of the OttLite 13w Executive Desk Lamp is to provide high-quality, natural illumination for reading, working, or other desk-related activities. Its design emphasizes adjustability and ease of use to enhance the user's experience. The lamp incorporates a polarized plug as a safety feature to reduce the risk of electric shock, ensuring it can only be inserted into a polarized outlet in the correct orientation.

Voltage: Standard 120V socket
Tube Type: Designed exclusively for OttLite® tubes, specifically model numbers T13330/OLPL13TC. The use of other products will void the warranty and may damage the lighting system.
Plug: Polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) for safety.
Dimmability: OttLite® tubes used in this system are not dimmable.
Cord: The external flexible cable or cord, if damaged, must be replaced exclusively by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.

Usage Features:

The lamp offers several features for user convenience and adjustability:

Assembly: The lamp requires minimal assembly, primarily involving the insertion of the tube and proper positioning of the shade. Users are warned to ensure the lamp is not plugged in until all assembly steps are complete to prevent electric shock.
Adjustable Lamp Head:
- Side-to-Side Motion: The tension of the lamp head's side-to-side motion can be adjusted using a coin to turn screw (A).
- Up-and-Down Motion: The tension of the lamp head's up-and-down motion can be adjusted using a coin to turn screw (B).
Adjustable Arm Tension: While the arm tension (C) is preset at the factory, if the neck of the lamp becomes too loose, it can be tightened by turning screw (C) clockwise with a coin.
Shade Positioning: The shade (D) features a notch (E) that aligns with a tab (F) on the socket assembly (G), ensuring correct positioning. The shade can be rotated to the desired position for use.
Tube Insertion/Replacement:
- To install a tube (H), it should be grasped firmly, aligned as pictured in the diagram, and pushed straight into the socket until it "snaps" into place.
- To remove a tube, it should be grasped firmly and pulled straight out of the socket. Users are cautioned not to twist or turn the tube during removal.
Power On/Off: The lamp is turned on or off by depressing the rocker switch (I).
Safety Precautions:
- Always ensure the lamp is unplugged before assembly or tube replacement.
- Allow the lamp to cool for approximately 5 minutes if it has been in use before handling the tube.
- The polarized plug must be fully inserted into a polarized outlet. If it doesn't fit, the plug should be reversed. If it still doesn't fit, a qualified electrician should be contacted. The plug should never be altered, and extension cords should only be used if the plug can be fully inserted.

Maintenance Features:

The primary maintenance involves tube replacement and ensuring the lamp's components remain in good working order.

Tube Replacement: When replacing a tube, ensure the lamp is unplugged and has cooled down. The old tube is removed by pulling it straight out, and the new tube is inserted by pushing it straight in until it snaps.
Cord Maintenance: In case of damage to the external flexible cable or cord, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to prevent hazards. This is a critical safety measure.
Tension Adjustments: The adjustable screws for the lamp head and arm tension allow users to maintain optimal flexibility and stability of the lamp over time.
