Overview

The P4330 Kill A Watt™ PS is a relocatable power tap and transient voltage surge suppressor designed to protect valuable electronics while also monitoring their power consumption. It features a 10-outlet power strip with a spike-free switch and integrated multi-meters to display various electrical parameters.

Function Description

The device serves as both a power strip and a power meter. It provides 10 normal outlets for connecting appliances and incorporates a spike-free ON/OFF switch. The multi-meter functionality allows users to monitor Voltage, Current, Active Power, Power Factor, Kilowatt-Hours (KWH), Leakage Current, and Elapsed Time.

Protection features include:

  • Abnormal Voltage Protection: Automatically switches off power to the outlets if the input voltage is outside the normal range (under 98.4V or over 135.6V). It will restart automatically when voltage returns to a safe range.
  • Over Current Protection: Users can set a maximum current limit (2A, 5A, 10A, or 15A) using a switch. If the connected load exceeds this limit, the unit enters Over Current mode, switches off power, flashes a red LED, displays the protected current value, and sounds an audible alarm.
  • Over Load Protection: Features dual redundant overload protection with an electronic control breaker and a traditional No Fuse Breaker (NFB). If the current load exceeds 15 Amps, the electronic control breaker activates, switching off power, flashing a red LED, displaying the Over Load icon, and sounding an audible alarm. If the NFB detects an overload, it cuts off power to all outlets, LEDs, and the LCD display.
  • Surge Protection: Built-in circuitry protects against power surges. A "Surge OK" icon indicates proper functioning; its disappearance signals a failed surge protector.
  • No Load Detection: If all connected appliances are off and drawing no stand-by power (less than 0.2W), the unit automatically turns off power to the outlets, flashes a "NO Load" icon, and turns off the ON key LED. This is a safety feature to de-energize cords.
  • Ground OK, Wiring OK Detection: Upon connection to a wall outlet, the unit checks for proper Line, Neutral, and Ground wiring. "Ground OK" and "Wire OK" icons display if wiring is correct; their absence indicates a wiring fault.
  • EMI Filter: Includes a built-in filter to reduce electro-magnetic interference from the AC power line.
  • Internal Switch Self Test: Flashes a "REPLACE" icon and sounds an audible alarm if the internal relay switch fails.
