Step C: Determine the minimum venting opening area (VA
min
) for natural ventilation:
1. Determine the excess refrigerant charge quantity (m
excess
), as specied in Table III (see
below).
2. Then determine the minimum ventilation opening area (VA
min
) corresponding to the
determined m
excess
value, as specied in Table III, for natural ventilation between the
installation room and the adjacent room.
3. The unit can be installed in a specic room only if the following conditions are fullled:
> Two permanent openings, one at the bottom, another at the top, are made between
the installation room and the adjacent room for ventilation purposes.

> The bottom opening fullls the following requirements:
Must comply to the minimum area requirement of VA
min
.
Opening must be located 300 mm from the oor.
At least 50 % of required opening area must be 200 mm from the oor.
The bottom of the opening shall not be higher than the point of release when
the unit is installed and must be situated 100 mm above the oor.
Must be as close as possible to the oor and lower than H.
> The top opening fullls the following requirements:
The total size of the top opening must be more than 50 % of VA
min
.
Opening must be located 1500 mm above the oor.
> The height of the openings must more than 20 mm.
> A direct ventilation opening to outside is NOT encouraged for ventilation opening
(because the user might block the opening when it is cold).
> The value of H is considered as 0.6 m to comply to IEC 60335-2-40:2018 Clause
GG2.

Notes:
For H values lower than 0.6 m, the value of H is to be considered as 0.6 m to comply to IEC 60335-2-40:2018 Clause GG2.
For intermediate m
excess
values, the value that corresponds to the higher m
excess
value from the table is to be considered.
Example: m
excess
= 1.45 kg, the value that corresponds to “m
excess
= 1.6 kg” is to be considered.
