This document provides operating and installation instructions for the Panasonic Electric Home Shower, model DH-3JP2. This appliance is intended for household use only, offering a convenient way to heat water for showering.
Function Description:
The Panasonic Electric Home Shower DH-3JP2 is a single-point system designed to provide instant hot water for showering. It features an integrated Electric Leakage Breaker (ELB) for safety, a JET PUMP for enhanced water pressure, and controls for power and water flow. The unit heats water as it passes through, eliminating the need for a separate hot water tank. It is designed to be permanently connected to the electric supply via an ON/OFF DP (double pole) switch.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Voltage: 230 V a.c., 60 Hz
- Power Consumption: 3500 W
- Electric Power Control: Inlet Water Temp. (OFF), 1000 W–3500 W (adjustable)
- Min. Water Pressure: 4.9 kPa / 0.05 kgf/cm² / 0.7 psi
- Max. Water Pressure: 380 kPa / 3.87 kgf/cm² / 55 psi
- Dimension: 380(H) x 190(W) x 93(D) mm
- Weight: 2.7 kg
- Outlet System: Single Point System (Open Outlet)
- Grounding: The unit must be earthed to prevent electric shock.
- Water Supply: Designed to be fed from a household gravity water storage tank, not directly from the main water supply.
- Piping: Recommended feeding pipe length below 10m, 1/2 inch diameter.
- Installation Height: 1.5m ~ 1.7m above the floor.
Usage Features:
- Power Control Knob: Allows users to gradually control the shower temperature. Turning it clockwise increases temperature to the 'HIGH' setting.
- Water Volume Knob: Controls the volume of water flowing through the shower head. Turning it anticlockwise increases water volume (decreasing temperature), while turning it clockwise decreases water volume (increasing temperature).
- Main Switch Knob: Turns the unit's heating element ON or OFF. When ON, the ELB lamp will light.
- ELB Reset Lever: Part of the built-in Electric Leakage Breaker. If the ELB trips (slides down), it can be reset by pushing it up.
- ELB Test Button: Used to periodically test the functionality of the ELB. Pressing it should cause the ELB Reset Lever to slide down, indicating normal operation.
- JET PUMP: Enhances water pressure for a more invigorating shower experience.
- Shower Head: Designed for comfortable water delivery. Users are cautioned not to block it with hands or towels, as this can reduce water flow and increase temperature.
- Water Flow Rate Adjustment: The maximum water flow rate can be adjusted using the Main Water Valve. It is recommended to adjust the water splashing height at 100-110cm (approximately 3L/min) for optimal use.
- Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety instructions, including the prohibition of self-installation, the necessity of proper grounding, using correct wiring and flexible cord sizes, and not inserting objects into the unit. It also warns against using the unit if any abnormalities occur and to immediately turn off the MCB. Special attention is advised when children, elderly, sick, or physically handicapped persons use the shower, to monitor water temperature.
Maintenance Features:
- ELB Inspection (Monthly): Users are instructed to test the built-in ELB monthly by pressing the ELB Test Button. If the ELB functions correctly, the reset lever will slide down. This ensures the safety mechanism is working.
- Main Body Cleaning: The main body should be cleaned with a moist cloth after switching off the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB). Harsh chemicals like benzene, thinner, detergent, or bleach should not be used, and water should not be sprayed directly onto the unit.
- Shower Head Cleaning (Weekly): The shower head should be cleaned weekly. The Shower Plate can be removed by turning it anticlockwise, and the holes should be cleaned with a soft brush. Care must be taken not to damage the holes. The Rubber Packing must be correctly re-set before reattaching the Shower Plate.
- Filter Unit Cleaning (Weekly/When hot water is not drawn normally): The filter unit, which is fixed to the Filter Knob, should be cleaned weekly or whenever hot water is not drawn normally. To clean, close the Main Water Valve, turn the Filter Knob anticlockwise to pull out the Filter Unit, clean it with water, and then reinsert and tighten it clockwise. It is crucial to ensure the O Ring is in place and free from foreign particles to prevent leaks.
- Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues such as water not being drawn, no water flow, insufficient hot water, or no electric supply to the unit. It provides steps to check the filter unit, shower head, water volume knob, main water valve, main switch knob, and ELB reset lever. For complex issues or specific abnormalities like water leakage or uncontrolled temperature, users are advised to contact an authorized dealer. Self-repair is strictly prohibited due to the special skills required.
