These settings are not necessary when using a widescreen television (16:9).
Preparations
≥Turn on your television and the unit (➡ page 13, “To turn the unit on”).
≥Switch the video input mode on the television to suit the type of connection you have
made.
While stopped

Press [ACTION] or [MENU] to display the initial settings screen.
2 Use the cursor jockey [3, 4] to select “5 TV Aspect” and press [ENTER].
3 Use the cursor jockey [3, 4] to select the TV aspect and press [ENTER].
≥4:3
≥Select when a conventional television is connected.
≥16:9
≥Select when a wide-screen television is connected or when the unit’s LCD is used.
4 Press [RETURN] to finish the setting.

Note
Select “16:9” when using the unit’s LCD without connecting a TV set.
Ensure “7 Speaker Setting” is set to “2-channel” (➡ page 38).

Connect Your Portable DVD/Video CD/CD Player Directly To Your Television
If the unit is connected to the television through a video cassette recorder, the picture
may not be played back correctly due to the copy guard. So we strongly recommend
you do not connect the unit to your video cassette recorder when setting up your
home entertainment system.

Note
During DVD play, TV volume may be lower than during TV broadcasts, etc. If you turn the
volume up while playing DVD, ensure that you reduce the volume again before playing
other sources so that a sudden increase in output does not occur.
