8.5.7.5 Top plate and disc valve/flappers replacement
1. Remove the softener and valve covers, see Covers removal (softener and valve) [
Page62].
2. Remove the motor and camshaft, see Optical sensor replacement [
Page76].
CAUTION
Beware of sharp edges when unmounting the flapper spring.
Use of protective glove is highly recommended to remove the spring (3).
3. Using a flat screwdriver, release the flapper springs (2) one by one and then remove the
spring (3).
4. Loosen all top plate screws (1).
5. Remove the top plate (4) from the valve.
6. Clean or replace the flappers (7) if needed.

The outline of the flapper seat can be seen on the flapper side.
If the outline is irregular, this may indicate that debris is or has been preventing the
flapper (7) from closing, and potential damages.
7. Remount flappers (7).
CAUTION
Flapper 6 is asymmetrical.
Failure to insert it properly will cause permanent leakage to drain.
8. Once all flappers (7) are back in place, position the top plate (4) and screw it back following
the figure order.
9. Position the one-piece spring (3) back to its place, locking it on its mounting pin (5) and pads
(6).
10. Using a small flat screw driver, push on each part of the spring (2) to clip it back into the
flappers (7) lever.
11. Remount the motor and camshaft, see Optical sensor replacement [
Page76].
12. Remount the softener and valve covers, see Covers removal (softener and valve) [
Page62].
