RS-485 Communications
RS-485 is a US-based telecommunications
standard for binary serial communications between
devices. It is the protocol, or set of specifications,
that needs to be followed to allow devices that
implement the standard to speak to each other.
A fully compliant RS-485 port is included in the
PENTEK INTELLIDRIVE system to permit serial
connections among more than two devices on an
RS-485 compliant network. Figure 19 shows two-
wire connection to the Drive.
Lightning/Surge Protection
Lightning arrestors or other surge suppressing
devices can be used with this product. MOV(Metal
Oxide Varistor), SOV(Silicon Oxide Varistor).

When retrofitting an installation with the
PENTEK INTELLIDRIVE, most of the preceding text
can be applied. The recommended Service Factor
Amps for non-PENTEK motors please refer to the
manufacturer literature.
