The Peradon Timesafe ADM Billiard Timing Meter is a modern, reliable, and independently surface-mounted control unit designed for timing billiard games. Manufactured in Great Britain, this device ensures accurate time management for various playing scenarios.
Function Description
The primary function of the Timesafe meter is to control the duration of billiard games based on coin insertion. When a coin is inserted, the display shows the selected time, and the connected load (e.g., billiard table lights) is switched on. The display counts down in one-minute steps until it reaches zero, at which point the load is switched off. Players can insert additional coins at any point during the timing sequence to extend the game, with the display showing the total remaining time. The meter can operate for up to 999 minutes (approximately 16.5 hours) before resetting to zero.
The device also features a key-operated matchplay switch, located below the coin mechanism, which allows for overriding the timing circuit. When activated by turning the key to the right, the display is blanked, and the load is switched on indefinitely. Any coins inserted during matchplay will be lost. Returning the switch to the vertical position resets the meter to the zero-time condition, and the display will show "00".
Important Technical Specifications

- Switching Capacity: 1kVA maximum.
- Power Consumption: Less than 10W at 240V 50Hz (no load), indicating energy efficiency.
- Time Intervals: Selectable from 1 minute to 127 minutes in 1-minute increments, offering flexible timing options.
- Operating Characteristics: Complies with BS-EN60730 type 1B.
- Compliance: Meets the latest EMC and Low Voltage directives, including EN60730-1:92, EN50082-1:92, EN55014:93, and EN60555-2:87.
- Fuse: A non-resettable 5A fuse is fitted to protect the unit from loads greater than 4.5A.
Usage Features
- Installation Flexibility: Can be corner mounted either left or right. It is crucial not to install the meter in locations where the ambient temperature exceeds 40°C.
- Time Delay Setting: The time delay per coin is adjusted via a seven-way switch bank located on the rear of the front panel. Delays are additive, allowing for precise minute-based settings by combining the values of the switches.
- Countdown Mode Selection: A facility is incorporated to select timing countdown in minutes or seconds. The default option is minutes; to select seconds, the relevant switch must be moved to the OFF position.
- Matchplay Function: Allows for continuous play without coin insertion, ideal for practice or specific events.
- Display: An LED display shows the remaining time, indicating "00" when no time is active.
- Safety: The unit should never be operated with the front panel unsecured or with the case un-earthed. It is also critical to disconnect the mains supply before attempting to adjust time settings.
Maintenance Features
- Modular Construction: Designed with modular components for easy servicing and part replacement.
- Cash Box: Features a removable cash box for coin collection. Peradon recommends emptying the coin box every evening after play and leaving it open to deter vandalism.
- Fuse Replacement: In case the 5A fuse blows, it must be replaced by a competent technician or returned to the factory.
- Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive fault-finding table with common issues and their corresponding remedies, such as replacing the main PCB, checking coin mechanism switch assembly, or verifying timing switch settings.
- PCB Replacement: The printed wiring board can be easily withdrawn by sliding it out of its guides, and replacement is a reverse process, ensuring the board is pushed fully home onto the stops.
- No Routine Maintenance: Other than regular emptying of the cash box, the meter requires no other maintenance.
The Peradon Timesafe ADM Billiard Timing Meter is intended for indoor use only. It is a robust and reliable device, but due to its nature as a coin-operated unit, it is a potential target for vandalism, emphasizing the importance of regular cash box emptying.
