Darning
with
the
elastic
stitch
Darning
with
the
elastic
stitch
is
especially
suitable
for
repairing
damaged
areas.
Sew
over
the
damaged
area
in
rows
until
it
is
well
covered.
Take
care
to
ensure
that
the
rows
overlap.
Sewing
on
patches
To
cover
larger
holes
well,
it
is
necessary
to
sew
a
new
piece
of
fabric
onto
the
damaged
area.
Baste
the
new
piece
of
fabric
onto
the
damaged
area
of
the
face
side
of
the
fabric.
Sew
over
the
fabric
edges
with
the
elastic
stitch.
Now
cut
the
damaged
area
back
to
the
seam
from
the
reverse
side
of
the
fabric.
Tip:
To
simplify
turning
the
corners
of
the
patch,
turn
the
handwheel
until
the
needle
is
in
the
fabric.
Then
raise
the
presser
foot
and
turn
the
fabric.
