This document is a user manual for the Philips RQ1200 series shaver, providing detailed information on its features, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Philips RQ1200 series shaver is designed for electric dry or wet shaving and can also be used for trimming and beard styling with specific attachments. It features an intelligent self-learning system that monitors energy consumption and converts remaining battery capacity into shaving minutes. The shaver is waterproof, making it suitable for use in the bath or shower and for cleaning under the tap. For safety reasons, it can only be used cordlessly.

Model Series: RQ1200
Power: The adapter is equipped with an automatic voltage selector and is suitable for mains voltages ranging from 100 to 240 volts. It transforms 100-240 volts to a safe low voltage of less than 24 volts.
Battery:
- Charging time: Approximately 1 hour for a full charge.
- Quick charge: 3 minutes of charging provides enough energy for one shave.
- Shaving time on full charge: Up to 60 minutes (RQ129x, RQ128x, RQ127x, RQ126x) or up to 50 minutes (RQ125x).
- Battery low indication: When 5 or fewer shaving minutes remain, the minutes indication (RQ129x, RQ128x) or the bottom charging light (RQ127x, RQ126x, RQ125x) flashes orange.
Noise Level: Maximum Lc = 69dB(A).
Water Resistance: Waterproof, suitable for wet shaving and cleaning under the tap.
Jet Clean System (Specific Models: RQ1296CC, RQ1295CC, RQ1290CC, RQ1286CC, RQ1285CC, RQ1284CC, RQ1280CC, RQ1275CC, RQ1265CC, RQ1260CC, RQ1252CC, RQ1251CC, RQ1250CC):
- Cleaning fluid: HQ200 Jet Clean solution.
- RQ1008 models: Three cleaning programs (eco, auto, intensive) with varying drying times (eco program has shorter drying time, intensive program is more thorough).
- RQ1007 models: One automatic cleaning program.
- Cleaning chamber refill frequency: Approximately every 15 days for daily use.

Usage Features

Display (Fig. 1, 1): Various shaver types have different displays, showing battery status (minutes left or charging lights), cleaning reminders, and replacement reminders.
Shaver On/Off Button (Fig. 1, 2): Used to switch the shaver on and off.
Shaving Unit (Fig. 1, 4): Designed for circular movements over the skin.
Trimmer (Fig. 1, 5): Integrated slide-out trimmer for grooming sideburns and moustache.
Beard Styler Attachment (Fig. 1, B) (RQ1296, RQ1295, RQ1286, RQ1285, RQ1275, RQ1265 only):
- Hair length selector (Fig. 1, 7) and comb (Fig. 1, 8) for styling beards at different length settings (1 to 5mm).
- Can be used without the comb for contouring beards, moustaches, or sideburns.
Foldable Charger (Fig. 1, C): For charging the shaver.
Jet Clean System (Fig. 1, D): An automated system for cleaning, drying, and charging the shaver.
Travel Lock (RQ128x, RQ127x, RQ126x, RQ125x only): Prevents accidental activation of the shaver during travel. Activated by pressing the on/off button for 3 seconds. Automatically deactivated when placed in a plugged-in charger or Jet Clean System.
Power-Saving Mode (RQ129x only): Automatically activated if the shaver detects movement for 5 minutes while switched off, to prevent accidental activation and save energy. Deactivated by pressing the on/off button.
Skin Adaptation Period: A 3-week period of regular shaving (at least 3 times a week) is recommended for the skin to adapt to the new shaving system.
Wet Shaving: The shaver can be used with shaving foam or gel. Regular rinsing under the tap is recommended during wet shaving to maintain smooth gliding.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Brush (Fig. 1, E): Supplied for manual cleaning of the shaver.
Regular Cleaning:
- After every use: Rinse the shaving unit under hot tap water for some time. Open the three shaving heads and rinse them and the hair chambers for 30 seconds. Shake off excess water and let the shaving heads dry completely while open.
- Trimmer: Clean after every use by rinsing under hot tap water. Lubricate trimmer teeth with a drop of sewing machine oil every six months.
- Beard Styler Attachment: Clean after every use by rinsing the attachment and comb separately under hot tap water. Lubricate trimmer teeth with a drop of sewing machine oil every six months.
- Jet Clean System (Specific Models): Clean the cleaning chamber every 15 days. Pour out used fluid, rinse the chamber under the tap (not dishwasher-proof), and refill with HQ200 cleaning fluid.
Extra-Thorough Cleaning:
- Switch off the shaver. Pull off the shaving unit. Pull open the three shaving heads. Press the retainer release tab to open the retainer. Remove the cutter from the shaving guard. Clean the cutter and the inside of the shaving guard with the supplied cleaning brush. Place the cutter back with legs pointing downwards, press down the retainer, and close the shaving heads. Reattach the shaving unit to the shaver.
- Important Note: Do not clean more than one cutter and shaving guard at a time, as they are matching sets. Mixing them may impair shaving performance for several weeks.
Shaving Unit Replacement: For maximum shaving performance, replace the RQ12 shaving unit every two years. The shaver is equipped with a replacement reminder that activates automatically after approximately two years.
Rechargeable Battery Removal: The rechargeable battery should only be removed when discarding the shaver, and it must be completely empty. Use a screwdriver to remove the back panel and then the battery.
Storage: Slide the protection cap (Fig. 1, 3) onto the shaving unit to prevent damage to the shaving heads. Store the shaver in the supplied pouch (Fig. 1, G).
