[1] Warning zone 1
[2] Warning zone 2
[3] Protective zone
The safety laser scanner scans the area in front of an automated guided vehicle system to
prevent collisions. When an object or a person is detected, the safety laser scanner sends
a signal to the automated guided vehicle system.
} When the warning zone is violated, an alarm of the automated guided vehicle system can
be triggered. The person can leave the route or remove the object from the route.
} When the protective zone is violated, a stop of the automated guided vehicle is triggered.
} The size of the protective zone is calculated from the hazard source, not from the dis-
tance to the safety laser scanner.
4.3 Reference outline monitoring
For vertical applications, national and international standards recommend monitoring a ref-
erence outline.
The reference outline is configured during the first installation of PSEN sc ME 5.5 08-17.
The distances measured during configuration are used as reference values for monitoring
the reference outline.
4.4 Use of zone sets and switching of zone sets
A zone set must include a safety zone and it can include a max. of two warning zones.
Each zone can include any number of geometrical shapes.
Each machine state can be assigned a signal at the control inputs or a combination of sig-
nals at the control inputs. Each of these assignments is assigned a zone set. The zone set
is always active whose control input signal/combination of signals is present.
