Overview

The Pipeline Games Cut 2 Win is an arcade game designed to allow players to win prizes by cutting a string. The game's operation and maintenance are detailed in this manual, emphasizing proper setup and regular checks for optimal performance.

Function Description:

The core function of the Cut 2 Win game is to challenge players to precisely cut a string to release a prize. Players insert money to start the game, then press and hold a button to move a cutter forward towards the string. The objective is to cut the string, which automatically opens the prize door, allowing the player to retrieve their gift. A crucial aspect of gameplay is to PRESS AND HOLD the button until the cutter is in the desired position. Tapping the button will cause the cutter to move to the back of the game, ending the turn without a prize. If a player fails to press the button before the time runs out, the cutter will automatically choose a cutting position.

The game is designed with an adjustable difficulty level, allowing operators to set the number of plays before a payout. This feature, combined with different "Prize Modes," enables operators to manage prize frequency and value.

Important Technical Specifications:

The game's internal settings are accessed via a handheld controller located in the back of the machine's control panel. A password (77777777) is required to enter the setup menu.

Basic Parameters (Option 1):

  • Coins to play: 1-20
  • Time per play: 10-90 seconds (Default: 20 seconds)
  • Volume: 1-30
  • Machine code: 0-99
  • Language: English/中文
  • Background music: On/Off

Account Check (Option 2):

This section provides various accounting data, some of which cannot be cleared:

  • All In: Lifetime money in (cannot be cleared).
  • All Out: Lifetime number of prizes won (cannot be cleared).
  • Free Time: Not used.
  • All Play: Current money in (can be cleared).
  • Out Gift: Current number of prizes won (can be cleared).
  • Clear Data: Clears current money in and prizes won, affecting lifetime history. Requires the 7's password.

Motor Parameter (Option 3):

This is a critical setting for ensuring correct game operation. It allows the operator to define the string's location for the computer.

  • Position: Displays the current position number the machine is set for.
  • Check: Allows the operator to see where the cutting blade is currently set before resetting its position.

Check Sensor (Option 4):

A diagnostic tool for checking various sensors, with 1 = on and 0 = off:

  • F/B Ori#: Home switch for the cutting head.
  • Door Signal: Microswitch on electronic locks.
  • Cut Sensor: Microswitch on the blade arm.
  • Gift Sensor: Microswitch on the prize hook.
  • Coin Signal: Coin pulse signal.

Password Change (Option 5):

WARNING: Changing the password is strongly discouraged as it will lock the operator out of settings, requiring a board change to regain access.

Set Network (Option 6):

This option is for future use and not currently part of the existing software.

Difficult Level Setting Modes (Option 7):

  • Difficulty: Sets the number of games before a payout.
  • Prize Mode:
    • Mode 0 (DEMO MODE ONY!): No winners. Not for normal play.
    • Mode 1: If the percentage is set (e.g., 100), the game will win on exactly the 100th play if the player is close. If not, the counter resets to 0.
    • Mode 2: If the percentage is set (e.g., 100), the game allows a win on the 100th play. If the player doesn't win on the 100th play, the next game will also be available to win, and the counter won't reset until a winner is produced.
    • Mode 3: Similar to Mode 2 but with an average. If the percentage is set to 100, some rounds might win at 97 or 105 plays. Each time a prize is won, a new number (plus or minus the chosen number) is picked.
    • Mode 4: Similar to Mode 2, but if there's no winner at the set percentage (e.g., 100), the machine won't automatically go to 101 for the next available winning position. Instead, it will choose random numbers to skip to (e.g., 104, 106, 109).

System Set (Option 8):

WARNING: This is for factory use only. Do not change any settings in this option.

Main PCB Pinout (JP2):

This section details the pin assignments for various game functions, including:

  • +12V, GND
  • Joystick controls (left, forward, right, backwards)
  • Game button, LCD controls (RW, E, K, RS, +5V/LCD-A)
  • Coin signal
  • Speaker connections (+ and -)
  • Enter setting, auto testing
  • Door signal
  • +12V/counter+, GND, coin counter-, gift counter-
  • Electronic lock-

Main PCB Pinout (JP1):

This section details the pin assignments for motor controls and sensors:

  • Step motor B+, B-, A+, A-
  • Scissor DC motor+, -
  • Scissor signal
  • Gift checking signal
  • Step motor origin position sensor
  • +5V, GND

Usage Features:

  • Gameplay: Simple and intuitive, requiring players to press and hold a button for precise cutter movement.
  • Prize Display: Prizes can be hung from the game string or displayed on a box/stool inside the machine. For hanging prizes, it is recommended to tie the main string directly to the bar below the hook and use a second string for the prize itself. This prevents the main string from moving or shifting, which could throw off calibration. The string should be pulled tight enough to keep the prize hook down and ensure easy cutting.
  • Marquee Mounting: The marquee is mounted by removing 8 screws from its lower back, balancing it on the door, feeding two wire harnesses through a larger hole, aligning the 8 screw holes, and then screwing in the 8 screws from the inside of the door back into the marquee. Finally, the two wire harnesses are plugged into their mating harnesses inside the door.
  • Card Reader Installation: The game supports card readers, requiring connection to three specific wires: Yellow (12 volt), Blue (Coin Pulse), and Black (Ground). Operators should rely on the wire position rather than color, as colors may vary.
  • Emergency Button: An emergency stop button is located inside the machine, allowing the door to be opened from the inside. This also serves as a useful tool for testing electronic locks.

Maintenance Features:

  • Motor Parameter Check: It is crucial to check motor parameters after transporting the machine and at regular intervals. This ensures proper alignment and operation of the cutting mechanism. The manual provides detailed instructions on how to check and reset the cutting head's position to ensure the string is centered on the blade. The blade's correct position is typically between 3400 and 3600.
  • String Placement: Proper string placement is vital for correct gameplay. The rope must always be in the middle of the blade, pulled pretty tight, and go straight down through the V in the back of the metal round bars.
  • Blade Safety: Operators are reminded to be careful as the blade is sharp.
  • Diagnostic Tools: The "Check Sensor" option (Option 4) provides a diagnostic tool to verify the functionality of various sensors, aiding in troubleshooting.
  • Account Data: The "Account Check" option (Option 2) allows operators to monitor money in and prizes won, with the ability to clear current data if needed (requires password).
  • Technical Support: The manual provides contact information (732-387-0233 and www.pipelinegames.com) for assistance with motor parameters or any other issues.
