8. Remove the (2) swing arm through-bolts.
NOTE: Lower the vehicle slightly to ease removal.
9. Remove the drive chain from the front drive sprocket
10. Roll the swing arm assembly out from the vehicle.
11. Refer to the “Axle Housing Removal” procedure, if
replacing the swing arm.
Swing Arm Installation
1. Roll the swing arm assembly back into place and install the
drive chain over the front sprocket.
2. Line up the swing arm with the frame and install the
through-bolts. Torque the swing arm bolts to specification.
3. Install a new tie strap to retain the brake lines.
4. Line up the upper shock eyelets with the frame mounting
holes and install the mounting bolts. Torque the rear shock
mounting bolts to specification.
5. Install the rear brake caliper and torque the mounting bolts
to specification.
6. Remove the wire or strap retaining the chain tensioner and
allow it to return to its normal position.
7. Lower the rear end of the vehicle and perform the chain
adjustment procedure (see Chapter 2 “Maintenance”).
8. Be sure the rear axle housing fasteners are torqued to
specification.

Swing Arm Mounting Bolts: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm)
= T
Rear Shock Mounting Bolts: 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm)
= T
Brake Caliper Bolts: 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)
= T
Rear Axle Housing Bolts: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm)
