  If your Polaris Offroad Vehicle engine turns over but fails to start, several factors could be responsible. The vehicle may be out of fuel, so refuel and cycle the key to the ON position three times for 5 seconds each before starting. Water may be present in the fuel, in which case you should drain the fuel system and refuel. Old or non-recommended fuel can also be the issue, so replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. Inspect the spark plugs for fouling or defects and replace them if necessary. Also, check for spark at the spark plug and verify that the stop switch is on. Low battery voltage can prevent starting, so recharge the battery to 12.8 VDC. If water or fuel is in the crankcase, immediately consult your POLARIS dealer. In the event of a mechanical failure, consult your dealer.

An incorrect spark plug gap or heat range can also lead to backfiring, so set the gap to the correct specifications or replace the plugs. Old or non-recommended fuel can be a cause, so replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. For incorrectly installed spark plug wires, incorrect ignition timing, leaking exhaust components or mechanical failure, consult your dealer. Loose ignition connections can also contribute to backfiring, so check all connections and tighten them. If water is present in the fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel.

How do I fix an overheating engine on my Polaris Sportsman 850 Touring?

  If your Polaris Offroad Vehicle engine is overheating, it could be due to debris lodged in the screen. Clean the screen to resolve this issue. Another cause could be a plugged radiator. Use a garden hose to flush any debris from the radiator fins. Be careful when cleaning the radiator fins, as high-pressure washers can deform them and reduce cooling efficiency.
