4. Remove the water pump drive coupler / retaining bolt
from the flywheel.
Hold the flywheel using a commercially available strap
wrench.
Remove the flywheel retaining bolt

using the
Flywheel Bolt Tool PA-51880
y
.
NOTICE
The flywheel bolt has a LEFT HAND THREAD. Turn
CLOCKWISE to remove.
5. Fully install Flywheel Puller PA-49316-A on threads
of flywheel (left hand thread - turn flywheel puller
COUNTERCLOCKWISE to install on flywheel).
6. Hold puller body

and tighten center bolt
i
to
remove flywheel.
7. Loosen the (12) outer crankcase bolts
i
evenly 1/2
turn, then loosen the (2) longer case bolts
o
, then
the (6) main crankcase bolts

. Remove all bolts.
8. Tap lower crankcase in reinforced areas with a soft
faced hammer to loosen, then lift straight upward to
remove.
CRANKCASE (LOWER) / OIL PUMP
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove oil pump cover plate screws

. Note
location of 2 longer (M6 x 20) screws
w
for
assembly. These screws secure the pump.
2. Remove 3 baffle plate screws
e
and plate.
3. Slide pump off mounting boss in crankcase.
4. Visually inspect pump rotors and drive gear for
damage or debris.
NOTICE
Replace oil pump as an assembly and pressure relief
valve if debris has entered pump or if pump damage is
evident.
