Fuel Injection System
8.16
Symptom Possible Problem Corrective Action
Engine Surges / Runs Rough Ignition System Check Vac of the stator.
Verify that flywheel key is not
sheared.
Verify that the water injection sole-
noid is operating on Virage i mod-
el.
Mechanical Check overall condition of engine.
Check engine compression.
Index the crankshaft.
Check for signs of water ingestion.
Check condition of propulsion sys-
tem.
Verify that cooling system is in
good condition and that there is no
foreign material present.
Check exhaust system for kinks,
plugs, and leaks.
Low Maximum RPM Fuel System / Fuel Injectors Use Diagnostic software to check
fuel pump circuit.
Check circuit breaker condition.
Verify quality of fuel.
Remove any water from the fuel
system.
Check for kinked fuel lines, and/or
improperly routed fuel lines.
Verify fuel syst em pressure.
Verify 39--45VDC at each injectors
while engine is running.
Check for lean or rich running in-
jector.
Check all related pins and wires.
Check CPS resistance.
Test the capacitor for proper op-
eration.
Ignition System Check the TPS.
Use diagnostic software to test
ignition system circuits.
Check resistance of the primary
and secondary coils.
Verify all connections are clean
and tight.
Verify that flywheel key is not
sheared.
Check for correct spark plugs,
gaps. V erify that insulators are
not cracked or loose.
