This document is a Vehicle Instruction Card (VIC) supplement and a series of VICs for Porsche vehicles, providing essential information for drivers. It covers general operating instructions, safety features, and maintenance guidelines.
General Supplement (Electronic Parking Brake, etc.)
Function Description:
The supplement provides an overview of the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system, which replaces the traditional mechanical handbrake. The EPB is designed to prevent accidental vehicle rolling and offers convenience and safety features. It also includes information on Deadlocks, Seatbelt Warning Lights, Warning Lights and their meanings, and Driving Restrictions/Conditions.
Usage Features:
- EPB Activation: The EPB normally auto-activates. It will also activate if seatbelts are not worn or if luggage on seats triggers the system. For correct function, seatbelts should be fastened, and luggage stored securely in the boot. To manually apply the parking brake, pull the switch labeled 'A'. Warning lamps on the switch and instrument panel confirm activation.
- EPB Deactivation: The EPB normally auto-releases. Depress the brake or accelerator pedal, or press switch 'A' to manually release it. Warning lamps will extinguish upon deactivation. It's crucial that seatbelts are fastened and no luggage is placed on seats.
- EPB When Driving Away: The parking brake automatically deactivates when driving off. It also prevents the vehicle from rolling back on gradients for a few seconds. For vehicles with an automatic gearbox, the EPB can be applied when stopping briefly (e.g., at traffic lights) to prevent creeping forward, and it will automatically release when driving off.
- Deadlocks: "Deadlock / safelock" messages indicate that once the vehicle is locked, occupants cannot exit in an emergency. This is a standard advisory message and not a cause for concern.
- Seatbelt Warning Lights: An illuminated seatbelt warning light when the engine is on may indicate EPB auto-activation. To deactivate, ensure all passengers fasten seatbelts and remove luggage from seats, securing it in the boot.
- Warning Lights:
- RED: Indicates a potentially serious problem or safety issue, requiring immediate attention. It may also signify an important reminder.
- YELLOW or ORANGE: Suggests a need for servicing or repair soon. If flashing, contact the rental agent.
- GREEN or BLUE: Indicates a system is on or operating normally.
- Driving Restrictions/Conditions: Drivers are responsible for complying with all applicable Road Traffic Regulations, the Highway Code, and prevailing road conditions. Maximum speeds (MPH) are provided for different road types:
- Built-up area (street lit): 30 MPH
- Single carriageway: 60 MPH
- Dual carriageway: 70 MPH
- Motorway: 70 MPH

Porsche 718 Cayman (VIC-POR-01)
Function Description:

- Check the tyre pressure table on the inside of the fuel filler cap or driver's door B-pillar. Some vehicles have a remote tyre pressure monitoring system.

Usage Features:
- Controls: Numbered diagram indicates locations for Heating & Ventilation (1), Hazard Lights (2), Starter Switch (3), Headlights (4), Sidelights (5), Indicators (6), Wipers (7), Rear Screen Wipers (8), Horn (9), Bonnet Release (10), Heated Rear Screen (11), Rear Fog Lamp (12), Front Fog Lamp (13), and Electronic Parking Brake (14).
- Fuel: Use unleaded petrol only.
- In Case of Breakdown: Use hazard lights, park safely, and use an emergency phone (not a mobile) for emergency services to know the location.
- Child Seats: Never use a child seat in a front passenger seat with an active airbag (SRS). Follow fitting instructions. Check seat positioning and security.
- Driver's Seat: Adjustments for Tilt, Legroom, Lumbar, and Height.
- Locking the Doors: Key/remote central locking. Central locking switch on console. Doors auto-lock when moving. Some vehicles may have keyless entry.
- Anti-theft System: Remote anti-theft alarm. Passive arming of electronic engine immobiliser.
- Opening Boot/Tailgate: Centrally locked. Use remote control to unlock/open. Luggage in both rear tailgate and front bonnet compartments.
- Adjusting Door Mirrors: Electric internal adjustment via control knob on driver's door.
- Opening the Windows: Electric front operated via control buttons on driver's door.
- Operating the Sunroof: If fitted, electric tilt/slide operated by roof-mounted switchgear.
- Starting the Engine: Ensure gear selector is in neutral (N) or park (P) (automatic) and EPB is on. Place ignition key in slot, start engine normally or press key to start/stop. Select gear, release EPB and brake pedal, gently press accelerator. Engine start-stop technology automatically stops engine when vehicle is not moving and gears are in neutral/foot pedals not depressed; touching foot pedals restarts engine. EPB deactivates automatically when driving off.
- Opening Fuel Filler Cap: Centrally locked. Under flap on rear offside. Press remote release switch, lift flap edge, twist cap anticlockwise.
- Releasing the Bonnet: Pull bonnet release lever (lower right of instrument panel), unhook catch.
- How to Change a Tyre: Tools and jack are in boot compartments. Move vehicle to firm/level ground. Turn engine off, select first gear (manual) or P (automatic), apply handbrake/parking brake. Loosen wheel nuts (do not remove). Use specific reinforced jack points. Crank jack to lift vehicle, undo wheel nuts, change wheel. Lower vehicle, tighten wheel nuts. - Driving an Automatic:
- Select N for neutral, P for leaving vehicle, R for reversing (vehicle must be at standstill).
- For normal driving, select D (transmission uses all forward gears automatically).
- 'Kickdown' facility: press accelerator to floor past normal acceleration point for lower gear and maximum acceleration.
- Release pressure to return to normal acceleration.
- Use M+ or M- to manually select gears (tiptronic gear selector).
- Apply EPB when at a standstill.

- Raising and Lowering the Convertible Top: Press centre console switch. Mechanism can be raised/lowered within 12 seconds and at speeds less than 30 mph.
- Starting the Engine: Ensure gear selector is in neutral (N) or park (P) (automatic) and handbrake is on. Place ignition key in slot on left of steering wheel. Start engine normally. Select gear, release handbrake and brake pedal, gently press accelerator.
- Opening Fuel Filler Cap: Centrally locked. Under flap on front offside wing. Lift flap edge, twist cap anticlockwise.
- Releasing the Engine Cover: Pull engine cover release lever (lower right of instrument panel), unhook catch.
- How to Change a Tyre: Tools, jack, and spacesaver wheel are under a cover in the front storage compartment (under bonnet). Move vehicle to firm/level ground. Turn engine off, select first gear (manual) or P (automatic), apply handbrake/parking brake. Loosen wheel nuts (do not remove). Use specific reinforced jack points. - How to Drive an Automatic:

- Release pressure to return to normal acceleration.
