shouldbeavoidedastheycandamagetheballast.
TheGreen/YellowEarthwireinthemainscablemustbeconnectedtosupplyearthtoensureoperator
safety.

Theoutputconnectorsvarydepending ontheindividualconguraon.Alabelplacedaboveeachoutput
connectorindicatesthetypeandpoweroflightxtureitissuitablefor.Onlyonelampmaybeconnect
edatame.Theballastwillautomacallysensewhichsocketisin
useandsupplytheappropriatepow
er.(OnunitsforusewithLTMxturestheremaybeapowerselectswitchonthefrontpanel.Theballast
willonlystartiftheswitchisinthecorrectposion.)
Start&Stop
Theballastcanbestartedusingthe
frontpanelcontrols,thebuonsorswitchesonthelighthead,or
remotelyusingDMX.WhenusingARRIxturestheballastcanbestoppedandstartedfromthehead
usingtherockerswitch.Forsafetyiftheballastispoweredupwiththerockerswitchclosedtheheadwill
notstartunltheStartbuonispressedortherockerswitchisopenedandreclosed.
AutoStart
Theballastcanbesettostartassoonaspowerisappliedbypunginto‘AutoMode’.Todothishold
theModebuonfor5seconds
unlthe‘Auto’LEDlightsupatthecornerofthedisplay.Repeatthe
processtotaketheballastoutofAutoMode.Theautomodesengisrememberedatpowero.
DMX
TheDMXacveLEDwillilluminatewhenaDMXsignalisdetected.The
StartandDimmerbuonswill
notfunconinDMXmode.TheDMXbasechannelisindicatedonthedisplayandthischannelcontrols
dimming.ThenextchannelupcontrolsballastON/OFF—sengavalueabove50%switchestheballast
on.TochangeDMXchannelholddowntheStop
buonandadjustusingtheUpandDownbuons.

Theballastoers4outputfrequencysengs.3ofthesemodesoerickerfreelight,and‘Silent’isa
lownoisesengbutthelight
outputisnotickerfreeandthecamerashouldbesetupaccordingly.
Duringnormaloperaontherecanbeadegreeofmovementinthearcofthelampwhichcanbepicked
upbythecamera.Selecngahigheroperangfrequencycanreducetheamountof
arcmovement.
Thehighestfrequencymodeavailableontheballastisthe1000Hzmodewhichcanbehelpfulinprovid
ingthemoststablearcforHighSpeedFilming.Howeverthereisthepossibilitywiththismodethat
‘acouscresonance’inthelampcausessignicantinstabilityandsome
manualtuningoftherunning
frequencymayberequired.TodothisholddowntheStartbuonandusetheUpandDownbuonsto
adjustthefrequencywhilstlookingforthemoststablelightoutput.Theoperangfrequencycanbe
adjustedintherange9001100Hz.This
modeisonlyavailableon9kWlampsorlowerinpower.
AutoScan
In1000Hzmodetheballastcanautomacallytunetheoperangfrequencyratherthanusingmanual
tuningasabove.Togetthebestresultswithautomactuningthelampshouldbeuptofullopera
ng
temperature(runformorethan20minutes).HolddowntheStartbuonandthenpresstheFullbuon
for2seconds.Thedisplaywillchangetoarotangpaern,andyouwillheartheballastscanning
throughtheoperangfrequencyrange.Thefullscan
takesabout100seconds.Attheendofthescan
periodtheballastmovestothefrequencywhichshowedthebeststability.Insomecasesasmallmanual
frequencyadjustmentmayberequired.ToabortthescanatanypointpressStartandFullfor2seconds.
VoltDropCompensa
on
Theballastmeasuresthevoltdropinthecablebetweentheballastandthelightxture.Thisallowsthe
powerlossinthecabletobecalculated.Theoutputpoweristhenincreasedbythisamountsothelamp
runningpowerremainsattheratedvaluenomaer
whatheadleadlengthisused.
