Do you have a question about the prodac DF400 and is the answer not in the manual?
The PRODAC DF400 is a reliable and silent external filter designed for nano aquariums, including freshwater, reef, planted, and nano shrimp tanks. It has a flow rate of 400 liters/hour.
All electrical appliances must be connected to an emergency cut-off switch set to 30 mA. Users should verify that the mains voltage matches the product label. This appliance is for indoor use only, with water temperatures not exceeding 35°C. It must not be used with corrosive or abrasive liquids. Before connecting to the mains, check for any damage to the cable or appliance. The power cable cannot be replaced or repaired; if damaged, the entire unit must be replaced. The appliance should not be operated without water to prevent impeller damage. It should only be used for its intended purpose. Disconnect the power cable before handling. Do not handle the power cable or plug with wet hands. If the plug or power socket becomes wet, shut off the mains before disconnecting. Keep the appliance away from heat sources. To prevent water from dripping onto the plug or socket, it is recommended to form a drip loop with the cable below the level of the power socket (Fig A). Do not lift the appliance by its cable.
This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed on safe use and understand the associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by children unless they are over 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children under 8 years.
The Class II filter features a twin cable with double insulation and does not require an earthing conductor.
Before any aquarium maintenance, disconnect all electrical equipment, both inside and outside the tank. To access the filter media, open the locking clips on the filter body and lift off the pump head (Fig.B). Remove the filter media, rinse them thoroughly under running water, and place them back in their original position (the filter sponge with the hole facing upwards). Do not use soap or detergents.
Assemble the intake and outlet tube fittings separately, connect them to the flexible hoses using the hose lock nuts, and secure the hoses to the inside wall of the tank with the suction cups. The outlet unit can be configured with either the L-shaped fitting or the spray-bar, depending on preference. The spray-bar can be installed at or below water level to adjust oxygenation. Connect the flexible hoses to the intake (IN) and outlet (OUT) units on the pump head, securing them with the hose lock nuts.
Place the pump head onto the filter body, ensuring the locking clips are fully open, then close the clips (Fig. C) to secure it. Verify that it is properly seated. Unscrew the cap of the filter body, fill it with water, and screw the cap back on tightly. Check all connections for watertightness before plugging the filter into the mains. For initial priming, the DF400 must be placed on a flat surface, in a vertical position, next to the aquarium.
Before any aquarium maintenance, disconnect all electrical equipment, both inside and outside the tank. Open the locking clips and lift off the pump head without disconnecting the flexible hoses. To preserve bacterial colonies, wash or replace only a portion of the filter media at a time. To clean the impeller, remove the two screws from the impeller cover with a Phillips screwdriver, extract the impeller, and rinse it under warm running water. It is recommended to clean the impeller every three months and replace it annually. If necessary, clear any deposits from the intake and outlet units and flexible hoses using a small brush. Do not use soap or detergents. Reassemble the unit in reverse order and restart the filter following the "Installation" instructions.
This appliance is guaranteed for 24 months from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty does not cover defects caused by tampering, negligence, or improper use. Consumable parts that require regular replacement for normal maintenance or are subject to wear are excluded. The warranty certificate must be completed by the retailer and accompany the appliance, along with the sales receipt or fiscal receipt, in case of return.

These external filters are available with different flow rates and tank capacities:
Before any aquarium maintenance, disconnect all electrical equipment, both inside and outside the tank. Open the locking clips on the filter body and lift off the pump head (Fig.B). Remove the cover grid and media containers. Separate the media containers by opening their locking clips with a flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool (Fig.C). Remove the pre-supplied filter media, rinse thoroughly under running water before use. Fill the empty containers with PRODAC INTERNATIONAL filter media: CRYSTALCIL and CLAROCAR (not supplied). Rinse these thoroughly before use. Do not use soap or detergent. Caution: Do not overfill the containers to avoid clogging the flow-through pipe. For optimal filtration, place the media in the containers from bottom to top in the following order:
Before any aquarium maintenance, disconnect all electrical equipment, both inside and outside the tank. Pull out the intake and outlet unit (IN/OUT) without disconnecting the flexible hoses. Unlock the pump head by opening the locking clips on the filter body and lift it off. Remove each media container and wash the filter media. Replace wool, sponge, and CLAROCAR every three months, and CRYSTALCIL every six months. To avoid destroying bacterial colonies, wash and replace only a part of the filter media at a time. To clean the impeller, unscrew the two screws from the impeller cover with a Phillips screwdriver (Fig.P), remove the impeller, and rinse it under warm water. It is recommended to clean the impeller every three months and replace it annually. If necessary, clear any deposits from the intake and outlet units and flexible hoses using a small brush. Do not use soap or detergents. Reassemble the unit in reverse order and connect the filter to the mains as described under "Installation".
If the UV lamp indicator light is off, even if the lighting button is on (Fig.Q), the UV lamp is not working and must be replaced. Pull out the pump head, unscrew the black plastic cover of the UV lamp with a Phillips screwdriver (Fig. R). Pull the quartz tube upwards, remove the lamps, and replace them. Reassemble the unit in reverse order. Caution: When reassembling the UV lamp unit, the quartz tube does not fully fit into its housing because it forms a small vacuum that ensures watertightness. Push down the tube cover strongly to fit it tightly. It is suggested to perform this operation with two people (Fig.S).
