Overview

This document describes the Prof Gasoline Lawn Mower, model 502429171 / G53SHL-K, a self-propelled lawn mower designed for private use in home and gardening environments. It is not intended for commercial, trade, or industrial applications, and its warranty will be voided if used for such purposes. The annual operating time for private use should generally not exceed 50 hours.

Function Description:

The Prof Gasoline Lawn Mower is designed exclusively for cutting natural grass. It can be used for mulching or with a grass bag for collecting clippings. The mulching plug helps to curve the inside of the mower deck for more efficient mulching. The mower is self-propelled, making it easier to maneuver across lawns. It features adjustable cutting height and a safety handle that stops the engine when released.

Usage Features:

Before operation, it is crucial to read and follow all safety rules and instructions. The mower is shipped without oil in the engine and without gasoline. Users must add 1.0 liter of gasoline and enough oil to bring the oil level between the upper and lower limit marks on the dipstick (without screwing in the dipstick when checking).

To start the engine:

  1. Pull back on the brake lever and hold it against the handle.
  2. Release the clutch lever to prevent the mower from moving forward.
  3. Take the starter handle with your right hand, pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull energetically. Repeat 2-3 times if cold start is not sufficient.

For mowing, the blade is in action as soon as the engine starts. The security handle must be held in the working position; releasing it will stop the engine. The clutch lever is used to propel the mower forward; push it forward and hold it against the handlebar. Releasing the clutch lever stops forward movement. Always release the clutch lever before starting the engine.

The cutting height can be adjusted between 25-75 mm with 6 different settings. The manual warns to stop the engine before adjusting the cutting height due to the risk of serious injury from the blade.

The mower supports both mulching and grass collection. For mulching, the mulching plug is installed, and the side discharge chute is removed, with the side discharge guard closed. For grass collection, the mulching plug is removed, and the grass bag is installed. A side discharge chute can also be installed by pressing a button, lifting the side discharge guard, and inserting the chute.

Maintenance Features:

Regular and careful maintenance is essential for safety and performance.

  • General: All nuts, bolts, and screws must be kept tight. The engine should be allowed to cool before storing in an enclosed space. The engine, exhaust silencer, battery compartment, and fuel storage area should be kept free of grass, leaves, or excessive grease to reduce fire hazard. Worn or damaged parts must be replaced with genuine spare parts.
  • Engine Oil: Check the engine oil level before each use. Change the engine oil after the first month or 5 hours, then every 3 months or 25 hours, or more frequently (every 25 hours) if used under heavy load or in high ambient temperatures. To change oil, drain it while the engine is warm by tilting the mower to its right side.
  • Fuel: Gasoline should not remain in the tank for more than one month. If the fuel tank needs to be drained, this should be done outdoors with a cool engine.
  • Air Cleaner: Service the air cleaner every 3 months or 25 hours, or more frequently in dusty areas. This involves loosening fasteners, removing the cover, pre-cleaner, and filter. The pre-cleaner can be washed with liquid detergent and water and air-dried (do not oil). The filter can be gently tapped to loosen debris or replaced if excessively dirty.
  • Spark Plug: Check and adjust the spark plug gap (0.028 ~ 0.031 inch or 0.7 ~ 0.8 mm) every 6 months or 50 hours, and replace it every two years or 250 hours. Ensure the spark plug is properly gapped and free of deposits.
  • Blade: Inspect the blade for damage, cracks, excessive rust, or corrosion. A dull blade can be sharpened, but a damaged blade must be replaced. When removing or installing the blade, wear heavy gloves and use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
  • Grass Catcher: The grass bag should be washed with a garden hose and allowed to dry completely before use to prevent clogging.
  • Clutch Lever Cable: If the clutch lever is loose, adjust the clutch cable tension.

The manual also includes a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues like the engine not starting or lacking power, providing possible causes and corrective actions. For storage, the mower should be thoroughly cleaned and stored indoors in a dry place, ensuring no fuel is left in the tank for extended periods or stored near open flames or sparks.
