5.1.2 Swivelling the milling spindle around the
transverse axis (Y axis, Fig. 10)
To swivel around the transverse axis (Y axis), loosen screw 1
(Fig. 10) and swivel the milling spindle. Set the desired angle
o
n scale 2 and re-tighten screw 1.
5.2 Fitting the collets (Fig. 11)
Please note: Never insert the collet alone into the spindle!
Always engage the collet in the nut first! Always make sure
t
hat the collet and the milling cutter have the matching diam-
eter.
O
ur milling machine uses commercially available ER 16 col-
l
ets. The scope of delivery includes the sizes 6, 8 and 10 mil-
limetres. Please note: In addition to the collets supplied,
other sizes are available in our range of accessories. They
are listed in our device catalogue and on the internet. Please
contact our Customer Service should you have any further
questions.
1. Loosen sleeve nut 1 (Fig. 11).
2. Place the desired collet 2 in the sleeve nut and let snap
into place.
3. Insert sleeve nut with the collet into the spindle and
tighten lightly by hand.
4. Insert milling cutter into the collet.
5. Using the wrench supplied, block the milling spindle
and tighten the sleeve nut.
6. To remove the collet, loosen sleeve nut and remove the
milling cutter.
7. Now remove the complete sleeve nut with collet out of
the milling spindle.
8. Use slight pressure 3 to snap out the collet and remove
it from the sleeve nut.
6 Milling
A spindle speed that is appropriate for the job is crucial for a
perfect milling result: The spindle speed is influenced, for
example, by the cutter geometry, the material to be machined
and the milling feed. The rotational speed sticker on the front
of the housing shows the appropriate spindle speeds for the
most common applications.
The speed can be pre-selected with rotational speed adjusting
knob 2 (Fig. 12). The current rotational speed is shown in the
display 3. Please note: This displayed value must be multi-
plied by 100 to determine the true rotational speed!
This remains constant due to the complex regulation of the
brushless motor, even with changing loads.
1. Securely fasten the work piece using clamps, in a vice,
or to the support of the lathe chuck.
2. Alternatively, you can clamp the work piece in a
machine vice and mount the vice on the work table
using the T-grooves
3. Adjust desired milling depth.
4. Tighten clamping screws 3 and 4 (Fig. 8).
5. Ensure that the milling tool does not touch the work
piece.
6. Switch on milling cutter at switch 1(Fig. 12)
7. Set the desired rotational speed on the rotational speed
adjusting knob 2
Electronic overload protection
The motor is automatically switched off in the event of an
o
verload and the symbol E0 appears in the display. In this
c
ase, the machine must be switched off at the main switch
and can be started up again with a moderate load after a
short pause when the display has gone out.
N
ote:
When milling, always ensure that the feed is against the cut-
t
ing direction of the milling tool (Fig. 13).
Important!
Always provide feed by hand only! When using the milling
machine in conjunction with the lathe, feed action must not
occur via the lathe’s automatic feed. Risk of injury!
7 Repair and Maintenance
Caution!
Disconnect the mains plug before all repair and maintenance
work!
7.1 Adjusting the play of the compound table
guides (Fig. 14)
If, after a time, the compound-type table guide is found to
have too much or too little play, the play can be reset using
the adjusting screws 2 (Fig. 14). For this purpose, loosen
adjustment screw lock nuts 1 and screw in all adjustment
screws evenly until play is eliminated. Retighten lock nuts
afterwards.
7.2 Adjusting the play of the spindle of the com-
pound table (Fig. 15)
If play of the spindles increases, release the nut 1 using a
socket spanner 2 (Fig. 16) approx. one half turn until play is
eliminated. Then turn the hand wheel to the right hand
direction until the play has been eliminated. Now retighten
the nut 1 firmly (lock).
7.3 Lubricating the machine (Fig. 16)
To ensure a long service life of your machine, please observe
the lubrication diagram in Fig. 17 (A: Lubricate each time
before use / B: Lubricate once a month). Only use acid-free
machine oil for lubrication.
