Bearings
The Unicycle bearings are industrial ball bearing units: tight, permanently greased and mainte-
nance-free. For normal square axles we use bearings with 40 mm diameter, for Q-axle and ISIS
axles we use bearings with 42 mm outside diameter:
The crank length
is decisive for the gear ratio between rider and unicycle. The crank
length should be adapted to the circumference of the wheel. Classic
crank lengths depend on the wheel size:

20“: 114 mm

In Muni and racing the area of use plays an important role and
therefore everybody has to find the ideal length for himself. For
example, a long crank helps less powerful drivers to brake down-
hill due to the large lever. Cranks with two crank holes are also
available, so you can change them flexibly.
Frames
There are mainly two different type of Unicycling frames, the
Unicrown frames, which has a rounded head, and the Flat-
crowng frame, which has a straight head.
The Flatcrown frames are preferred by Freestylers, because
you can put a foot here to do tricks like the „Wheelwalk“.
Freestylers also prefer so called „Longneck frames“ - with
these, the clamp is at the very top, so that it is not in the
way for tricks. The tire clearance is very narrow in order
to perfectly get onto the tire from the Flatcrown during tricks with the foot.
The materials are not so important here, because forks are not loaded as much.
You rarely find lugged forks - they are heavy and less durable. CrMo and aluminium
forks have the advantage of a lower weight.
Off-road unicycle forks are often already equipped with braze-on parts for a simpli-
fied rim or disc brake assembly. They usually have a large tyre clearance.
The seatpost on a good unicycle should be long enough so that riders over
1.60cm in height can use it immediately and do not have to buy a longer
one. Shortening is not a problem. Seatposts that have a grooved pattern
(diamond-knurled) on the surface are particularly protected against
twisting in the frame tube. Seatposts with a diameter of at least 25.4 mm
have the advantage of greater stability and clamping surface. Saddle clamps for
this purpose are also available (in coloured) at bicycle dealers.
For shortening the seat post, see also the respective section of the instruction
manual here.
Please note that the seat post should always be at least 6 cm in the fork. For
more extreme riding manoeuvres even 2-3 cm more.
#rgb unicycle seatposts even have a diameter of 31.6mm - for less
weight thanks to thinner walls and
more clamping surface.For especially tall
riders we also offer 700 mm long seat posts as
spare parts. The QU-AX Q-handle handlebar
allows you to sit more relaxed and flexible, especially
on longer distances. It is adjustable in both length and
angle and can be mounted on a fork or seat post.
