. Your scanner scans
through the weather band then
stops within a few seconds on the
strongest weather broadcast.

The weather service precedes
each weather alert with a digitally-
encoded SAME (Specific Area
Message Encoding) signal, then a
1050 Hz tone. You can set the
scanner to decode and display the
SAME message when an alert is
broadcast. Then if you are
monitoring a weather channel with
a digitally-encoded SAME signal
when an alert is broadcast, the
scanner will show the type of alert
being broadcast such as
