CONNECTING TO POWER
You can power your television from:
• internal batteries
• AC power
• a vehicle’s cigarette-lighter socket
Note:
Connecting an AC or DC adapter
automatically disconnects internal bat-
teries.
Using Battery Power
To power the television from internal
batteries, you need nine D batteries (not
supplied). For the best performance and
longest life, we recommend alkaline bat-
teries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No.
23-550.
You can also use rechargeable nickel-
cadmium batteries, such as Cat. No. 23-
123. If you use rechargeable nickel-
cadmium batteries, you must charge/
recharge them with a battery charger,
such as Cat. No. 23-132.
Cautions:
• Use only fresh batteries of the
required size and recommended
type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries,
different types of batteries (stan-
dard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or
rechargeable batteries of different
capacities.
Follow these steps to install batteries.
1. Gently push the battery compart-
ment cover’s two locking latches in
the direction of the arrows and lift
the cover.
2. Put nine D batteries into the battery
compartment as indicated by the
polarity symbols (+ and –) marked
inside.
Caution:
Installing the batteries with
incorrect polarity can damage your
television.
3. Replace the battery compartment
cover.
When the TV picture shrinks or the
sound quality is distorted, replace (or re-
charge) the batteries.
Cautions:
• If you do not plan to use your televi-
sion for a month or more, or if you
plan to use only an AC or DC
adapter, remove the batteries. Bat-
teries can leak chemicals that can
destroy electronic parts.
