avoidcollisionswithothervesselsandobjects.
SafeZones
Asafezoneisaringcentredonyourboatwithinwhichatargetis
considereddangerous.Itisdisplayedonradarorchartwindows
asaredring.
ThisAISsafezoneusesthesamecriteriaasMARPAandwilldeem
atargetdangerousifitcomeswithinaspecieddistanceofyour
vessel(closestpointofapproachorCPA)withinaspeciedtime
(timetoclosestpointofapproachorTCPA).TheCPAandTCPAare
calculatedusingCOG/SOGandpositionfromtheAIStarget.
WhenyoursystemrecognizesadangerousAIStarget:
•Thetargetsymbolchangestoredandashes.
•Analarmpop-upisdisplayed(thiscanbedisabledifrequired).
•Analarmsounds(thiscanbedisabledifrequired).
Note:WhentheAISreceiverisconnectedandfunctioning,the
systemwillcheckfordangeroustargetswithinthesafezoneand
ifenabledissueanalarmwhenevernecessary.Dangeroustarget
alarmoperatesirrespectiveoftheONorOFFstatusoftheAIS
targetdisplay,ortheVISIBLE/HIDDENstatusofthesafezone
ring.
SafetyMessages
WhenthestatusoftheAISSafetyMessagesfunctionissettoONin
theMenu>AISLayerSetupMenu,anyincomingsafetymessages
fromsurroundingvessels,shorestationsandmobilestations,are
displayedinapop-upbox.Ifknown,themessagewillincludethe
sendingvessel’spositioninlat/lon.Younowhavetheoptionto:
•Removethemessage(ACKNOWLEDGE).
•Placeawaypointonyourchart/radartomarkthesendingvessel’s
position.
•SelecttoGOTOthesendingvessel’sposition.
Note:YouwillnotreceiveanysafetymessagesinSimulator
mode(Menu>SystemSetup>Simulator).

1.MovethecursorovertherelevantAIStarget.
