Thefrequencyofthesonardeterminesthewidthofthesonar
beamandthedepthtowhichthesignalswillpenetrate.Eachof
the4presetoperatingmodeshasitsownfrequencysettings.The
frequencysettingisindicatedinthestatusbar.
Thereare3availablefrequencysettings:
•50kHzproducesawidesonarbeamandpenetratesthewater
well.Itprovidesalowerresolutionimagethatmaynotbeasgood
atdetectingsmallsh.Typicallyusethisifyourequirealarge
coveragebeneathyourboatorifyouareindeepwater.
•200kHzproducesnarrowbeamofquickershortersonarwaves.
Theseproduceahighresolutionimagebutdonotpenetratethe
wateraswellasthelowerfrequency.Thisfrequencyismost
usefulinshallowerwater(upto1000ft).
•Auto.WhenoperatinginautomaticfrequencyyourDSM
automaticallyselectstheappropriatefrequencyforyourdepth,
50kHzindeepwaterand200kHzinshallowerwater.
